At work we use a specific company for maintenance and repair of specialist equipment. It’s a small company, four plus the boss. We’ve used them for years, have a good relationship and they are very quick to respond and will always try and fit us in for breakdown/emergency. However, I’ve noticed whenever they send one particular person there are sporadic issues with the work, either at the time or a few months later. Nothing major (yet), think irritations/niggles that shouldn’t have happened and need fixing, which they then come out and repair. My problem is that next month we have a major installation of expensive equipment and I don’t want this person to do it. I also have an outstanding list of repairs, which I think are 80% attributable to this particular person. How do I tell the boss without causing offence? They are a lovely bunch of people and I can not get anyone else to perform this service without a major cost implication. I basically want to say ‘let’s set the work programme but I don’t want x involved, because I don’t think they can do it to the required standard. Please help.
