Hay fever in February??

Anyone else?
Is it really hay fever ?
Antihistamines aren't touching it, but I always think that they only work when I've taken them regularly for a while anyway
It's the itchy eyes and lungs that I can't deal with

I have symptoms, my eyes and throat are itchy. Mine usually starts late March due to tree pollen so I expect that the milder weather has brought it on earlier.

dancingqueen345 · 22/02/2019 09:51

Yes!! My sinus' have been going mad for the last few days. Re-assuring to think it's maybe just early hay fever.

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 22/02/2019 09:52

It'll be tree pollen at this time of year.

Normally I start reacting in March but it's started earlier this year.

Suffering along with you, throat and eyes mainly so on the antihistamines and eyedrops.
Sunglasses are a must for me even in Feb, windy days make it worse.

At a guess, it's the pollen blowing off the catkins that are out everywhere. They rely mainly on wind pollination. Hazel, I think.

Megan2018 · 22/02/2019 09:55

Yes! Mine always starts in Feb and carries on till October.
It's bloody Birch I think that does it for me this time of year. I live in a house surrounded by Birch!

First trimester Pg so can't take anything for it either. I sound horrendous.

Susiesoap7 · 22/02/2019 10:28

Me too! Coughed myself sick this morning! Ugh

Clutterbugsmum · 22/02/2019 10:32

Yep, tree pollen.

I was out driving yesterday and noticed all the catkin trees (sorry don't know which tree) were all covered.

PhannyMcNee · 22/02/2019 10:33

Yup but we’re surrounded by fields of dafodils in flower. I love them but my nose doesn’t!!

SmarmyMrMime · 22/02/2019 10:41

I've been snuffling up mornings and evenings over the last 10 days. There's catkins on the Hazel behind my fence.

I ran the air filter fan last night and haven't felt it so much this morning. Not cheap, but we bought them a few years ago and they do make a big difference. One in our room, another in the kids's room and one in the lounge.

LazyLemur · 22/02/2019 10:58

Yep. My garden is a forest. Catkins everywhere!

pepperjack · 22/02/2019 11:14

This makes sense
Builders leaving the front door open all the time and I have a tree outside that it covering the car in fine layer of what looks like pure pollen
Can you tell me more about the air filter?

yep it;s the birch polleen
sets my son off every year around now

StealthPolarBear · 22/02/2019 11:16

Yes DD is suffering

KeptTheBeachesShipwreckFree · 22/02/2019 11:22

The hazelnut bush is full of catkins at the moment and they seem to have appeared out of nowhere so yes, it is entirely possible that you're struggling with hayfever.

KeptTheBeachesShipwreckFree · 22/02/2019 11:22

The hazelnut bush in my garden ...

PlumCakeChica · 22/02/2019 11:29

Yes I’m suffering early this year 😭

crazycatbaby · 22/02/2019 11:34

My eyes and ears have started itching already 😭

Olinguito · 22/02/2019 11:36

That explains my itchy eyes, thank you! I wasn't expecting it to hit so early.

Sparkletastic · 22/02/2019 11:39

That's why my blinking sinus is killing me. Dammit - gets earlier every year.

PeakTransedAgain · 23/02/2019 17:50

Me too

PeachyPeachTrees · 26/02/2019 16:59

Uurgh! It's awful. My eyes are burning and I am constantly blowing my nose. I have never had hay fever in February before. I used to get it from late March onwards. It takes a few days for antihistamines to kick in. I have special eye drops but still bad.

ononie · 26/02/2019 17:24

Feb/March for me too
