Chesham

Anyone live in or know Chesham well? We’re trying to move and house prices seem a little cheaper there than the surrounding areas. We don’t know the area at all though so I’m not sure if there’s a good reason for it being cheaper! We have 2 primary school age children so good schools are important to us too. Anyone have any advice?

@knackeredandneedwine how did it go with your move? Also considering Chesham.

I grew up very close to there (I'm 38 though) so it's probably changed a lot. I would happily live there again. Like everywhere, good parts and bad parts. Super convenient to beautiful countryside in surrounding villages but also London. No idea re schools, sorry. I loved the playground and big duck pond as a kid! And there's a Waitrose...

I lived in chesham for over 20 years - we really liked it. Its cheaper than amersham because its right at the end if the met line and when we moved there were no through trains - you had to always change at little chalfont which made commuting a bit longer. It also has a more diverse population which in the past kept the prices lower but this has changed over the last few years and some areas/houses are much more expensive now.

It has a grammar school but amersham grammar schools are more sought after which also makes amersham properties more sought after.

You would have to check out primary/junior schools as things have changed since we used them.

There's a good choice of Primary schools in Chesham.

@Delectable we moved to Chalfont St Peter in the end rather than Chesham. Good luck with your move 😊

Thanks for the comments all especially for those who lived there.

@Wakemeupinsummer which grammars does Chalfont St Peter fall under? I remember viewing a property there about this time last year when I knew nothing about schools and thought the roads in Bucks needed some attention :)
