Can I put the washer on?

I've just woken up and me and the bedding are both drenched in sweat. I'm not talking a bit damp, I mean literally sopping. I can't really sleep in it can I? WIBU to shove it in the washer? I get on great with my neighbour on the flat below but I genuinely don't know if the washer can be heard....

Any advice? Bedding stinks Sad

Oh god no, don’t risk it. Can’t you put it on timer to start at 7am, and put other sheets on now?

TearingUpMyHeart · 21/02/2019 02:32

Massively antisocial, just put it to be washed and turn it on tomorrow
Hope you get some sleep Flowers

SneakyGremlins · 21/02/2019 02:34

I've only got the one set!

Can I put it on a wash with no spinning cycle, then delay the spin til the morning? If not I'll leave it.

Oh the dreaded night sweats. Horrible things. I would wash your sheets in the morning.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 21/02/2019 02:36

Just saw your update! I’m not sure if you can do that, presumably it depends on your machine.

SneakyGremlins · 21/02/2019 02:36

Okay, thanks for the responses everyone Smile

@HeartsTrumpDiamonds

I was thinking put it on a wash, but set the spin speed to 0 so it doesn't spin. Then when that's done, select the cycle that's just drain and spin and set that cycle to start in five hours.

Really don't want to be that neighbour!

No way would I start a washer any time after 8 to make sure it would be finished by 10 latest if there were others underneath or connected by adjoining wall. I wish you were near I feel very liberated in knowing i can throw mine on at any time!

Just strip them and use a towle to lie on so you are fresh and dry.

Smotheroffive · 21/02/2019 02:41

I do hope you are ok? What's happened that you have awoken in this state?

Redglitter · 21/02/2019 02:43

Even without the spin cycle theyll probably hear it. Definitely leave it til morning

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 21/02/2019 02:44

Your solution sounds good to me OP. Hope you get some rest!

SneakyGremlins · 21/02/2019 02:47

Smother thankyou for asking Flowers it's a side effect of the medication I'm on - but it's very rare so wasn't expecting it!

Thanks everyone - bedding is in washer, set to start in four hours (so roughly seven AM) Smile

Hoping all is OK sneaky that's a horrible reaction I hope you can get some meds that might counter it for you. It can't be very healthy for your body to go through that stress repeatedly (if you have to stay on said meds)

SWnewstart · 21/02/2019 22:44

Sympathies to OP and anyone prone to night sweats. A bit off track but …. I'm intrigued people call washing machines "washers". To me, family and friends it's always "washing machine" or maybe "machine". Is this a regional thing? I'm south east born and bred. Do you say "tumbler" as well?

ApolloandDaphne · 21/02/2019 22:52

We call it the wash-a-sheen because that is what DD1 used to call it.

DD1 is now aged 26 with a wash-a-sheen all of her own!

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/02/2019 22:56

I would, and did in the early days of the night sweats.
Now I have loads of sets of bedding so I don't need to.

Much sympathy, it's miserable.

happyhillock · 21/02/2019 23:01

When i lived in a flat i didn't put my washing machine on until 8am and never after 9pm

SneakyGremlins · 21/02/2019 23:06

In the end I used my idea of washing but not spinning. It was almost silent, neighbour didn't hear anything (I checked) which means should it happen again I can wash the bedding just not spin it.

I call it a washer but I've lived all over - so I'm no help!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 21/02/2019 23:26

I say washing machine but I’m (mostly) Canadian.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 21/02/2019 23:26

Glad you got it sorted OP.

Smotheroffive · 21/02/2019 23:31

sneaky said it was rare side effect of meds.

Get to docs sneaky maybe dose can be adjusted or other meds to counter it. You don't want to be having to deal with this on a regular basisbasis, horrid.

I had to double check 'washer' too Grin but then I've lived all over too!

SneakyGremlins · 21/02/2019 23:36

Well they're immunosuppressants so probably can't change them Grin

I've been on them almost a year and only had the sweats about five or six times. Will ask at the docs though!

Smotheroffive · 21/02/2019 23:45

Yeah, so and I hope you can get something to help Flowers

Smotheroffive · 21/02/2019 23:52

Some its vital to tell GP if you suffer from what happened last night.
