Signed up to save the change, with Halifax a week ago today. And have already saved £10! Shock. I'm amazed! Wish I'd known about it sooner.

For those who don't know. It rounds up what you spend to the nearest £ and puts it in a savings account.

Ooh, I asked about this ages ago & they didn't do it. I've never thought about it since!

Did you do it in person?

NoTeaForMe · 20/02/2019 09:23

I do this ages ago (with Lloyds)!it really quickly racks up. I thought it rounded up to the nearest pound and put it into savings account but I often have amounts like £1.27 saved. I don’t understand. That’s not rounding to the nearest pound ,surely that’s to the next pound?

NoTeaForMe · 20/02/2019 09:26

In fact I just looked. The last ones are £1.50 £3.88 £1.35 and £2.41!

pinknsparkly · 20/02/2019 09:29

NoTeaForMe - I think you can set it to round to whatever you wish. It sounds like you've maybe got it set to round to the nearest £5 or £10?

Toddlerteaplease · 20/02/2019 16:02

It transfers the money every morning in s lump sum. Which explains why you've got weird amounts. I had £4 one day. Didn't realised I'd used my card so much. It feels like I'm getting free money!

What is this alchemy of which you speak? I’m niether with Halifax nor Lloyds, do I need to jump ship?

fourquenelles · 20/02/2019 17:40

I average about a tenner a month using save the change with my Lloyd's account. I'm saving it for my grandson. Totally painless saving.

Asta19 · 20/02/2019 17:43

I'm with TSB and I have this on my account. I like it, it's a good idea. I'm not exactly saving hundreds, but every bit helps.

NoTeaForMe · 26/02/2019 16:27

I forgot this thread! Yes, I think you’re right Toddler. It’s transferred every morning. £7 went in yesterday!

grincheux · 26/02/2019 16:29

I love it too, it was just a click on the app and it was applied!

HighlandWorrier · 26/02/2019 16:48

I have seen this. Does the money come from the bank to you or does it come out of your own current account into the savings account if that makes sense?

fourquenelles · 28/02/2019 14:09

It transfers from your accounts (if you set it up in each account) to a savings account with the same bank.

HighlandWorrier · 01/03/2019 06:21

Thanks for clearing that up for me Four 😊

Dolceandgabbana14 · 01/03/2019 06:25

Does First Direct do this? It's a great idea!
