um - it doesnt stay for long, i dont think, people have to click to look at it rather than it just appearing.

I've noticed that when friends do this I get a notification. If they just post normally it just comes up on my timeline, so more easily missed.

It's time limited and as far as I can remember friends can't see what other friends have posted in reply to the original post if it's just on my story not on the wall.
