I've got my driving theory test tomorrow and I'm so nervous!!

How can I calm my nerves? Seriously worrying how I'll cope when it comes to doing a practical test of my stomach is already in knots thinking about this one 😩

I've done all the revision I can do (bar reading the Highway Code, I physically can't read more than 3 pages of that without falling asleep 😆).

I've been learning using an app and I'm getting 49/50 or 50/50 on all my mock tests so I'm hoping they're a true reflection of what the test will actually be like tomorrow.

It's been so long since I've done any kind of test/exam, over 8 years come to think of it, and I'm really freaking out about this!

Ds has his soon and is getting 100% on the app so of course he thinks he'll sail through it. If you are doing well on the app I can't imagine it will be very different. Just imagine yourself at home in your sitting room, focus on the screen and ignore others around you.

SeptemberIssue · 19/02/2019 23:40

if you're getting scores like that on it, it'll be a doddle for you Smile - I used the app and nothing else and I just made sure that the night before/the morning of it I answered every question they had, it was so fresh in my mind doing it this way and I passed first time.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll ace it! Do pop back and let us know how you do!

The correct answer is always the safest answer.

The real test is exactly like the dvla app so you'll be fine! The trickier part of the test imo is the hazard perception part as the marking system has some flaws, but if you've also been practising that you'll be ok. Good luck and don't rush through the questions!

OneThingOffTheList · 20/02/2019 00:29

I'm okay (I think) with hazard perception. Although in practice I've scored 0 on a few of them for noticing the hazard too early, which seems crazy to me.

I suppose I'll need a little bit of luck on my side tomorrow. Test is at 10am but it's not too local. I need to leave the house before 9 and I have 2 small kids to get ready as well as myself so I doubt there will be much time for practicing in the morning. I suppose I'm as ready as I'll ever be.

Will update you all tomorrow 🤞🏼

You do have to be careful to not notice the hazard too early, but getting those scores on the app you'll be fine

OneThingOffTheList · 20/02/2019 06:35

I think I got 1.5 hours sleep 🙈 but for some reason I'm feeling less nervous 👍🏻

You've got this.

Tink1990 · 20/02/2019 06:53

Good luck!! Ive got mine in a few weeks and im not currently getting anywhere close to th scores you are, you've got this Smile

hidinginthenightgarden · 20/02/2019 07:36

When I did mine the questions were almost identical to the app. I got 100% they were so similar.
You should be fine!
Good luck!

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 20/02/2019 07:43

When you see the hazard click and then wait 1-2 seconds and click again.

Don't keep clicking loads but it's ok to click 2 or 3 times per hazard then if you're too early you still get some points.

I say this because dd took hers in December, got 49 on the theory but failed the hazard perception.

She did it again in January and passed by miles because she'd learned the technique.

Read this link.

Also if you fail it's only £20 something. Just do it again as soon as you can and don't stress. Good luck Flowers

adaline · 20/02/2019 07:51

Be careful with the hazard perception - if you notice things outside of their timed limit you won't get scored for it and could get zero.

Yay!

Well done FlowersStar

Great result. Are you celebrating tonight?

WhiteNancy · 20/02/2019 23:31

@KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse thankyou for the advice above - my ds took his test today, I gave him your advice and he passed 😊

TC07 · 20/02/2019 23:33

Are you celebrating tonight

Yes! Celebrate with some wine if you drink before you get stuck as the designated driver

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 20/02/2019 23:48

@whitenancy that's great! Glad it helped. Congrats to your ds Grin

Tink1990 · 21/02/2019 08:07

Woohooo, congratulations!

OneThingOffTheList · 21/02/2019 08:37

I treated myself to a few glasses of gin & tonic last night.

First thing I thought when I passed was "thank god I never have to do that again 😅"

Just driving lessons and a practical test to go now! 😃
