Birthday present for 10 year old

I'm so out of touch! My niece's birthday is coming up. I don't see them very often so don't really know what she's in to. Family aren't forthcoming with suggestions. She's not overly girly and is quite active/ street dancey/ sporty.

Wondering if anyone here can give me the lowdown on what the kids are into these days?

My DD got roller blades for her 10th birthday yesterday.

She already has skates. Which is another problem- they already bloody have everything!!

Recent 10 year old girl presents have been anything from Smiggle, a glittery cat necklace, a bracelet with roller skate charms, and a session at a climbing wall.

What's your budget?

Jones452 · 19/02/2019 21:34

That's an idea - I'd had a day trip in mind but I'm not sure when I'd be able to arrange it as we live on the other side of the country. Would it be reasonable to do it as an IOU, or do kids not go in for that sort of thing Confused

I'd book and plan it in...then you can send a card with an itinery etc

Something concrete to look forward to

Sky's the limit for budget really (within reason, obvs!)

Charm bracelet might be nice. Off to google smiggle...

Maybe some of the little mix sportswear.

Thats what my niece got for christmas from me when she was 10

Sportswear could work too. Some good ideas here. Thanks!

A subscription to The Week Junior (Children’s newspaper)I think 6 months is £21 - my 11/9 year olds love it.

Kanoodle Extreme is a game that's currently popular with my DD of the same age and many of her friends. Smiggle is something DD doesn't understand the point of; she's much more outdoorsy and is interested in sports, music and animals. A subscription to something along the lines of the RSPCA would go down well, or membership to a local attraction.
