How can this happen? I thought they aren't allowed to leave a person stateless? Not that I'm disagreeing, I'm just wondering how they managed it.

Apparently the baby has British citizenship because he was born before the mother’s citizenship was revoked.

AlexaShutUp · 19/02/2019 23:11

Why are all these people saying that she wasn't born a British citizen because her parents weren't British citizens. They didn't need to be. If she was born here and at least one of her parents had settled status at the time - not necessarily British nationality - then she was a British citizen from birth.

GlitterStick · 19/02/2019 23:11

Mad yes,he took her age 13 to flag burning rally organised by now banned terrorist organisation .The groundwork for her leaving UK started way before she watched beheading. What conversation was going on inside that house? For her whole life!

Exactly, have read this too. That they went to rallies, that is. Extreme stance to take, she's spent her life thinking extremism is OK if that is the case.

DishingOutDone · 19/02/2019 23:11

I am usually the only shocked person on any threads saying that 19 year olds should be thrown penniless into the gutter for asking their mum for a tenner. I don't normally buy all this about young people having to make adult decisions and then live with them. But she's definitely in a hole and digging, the way she talks about IS, her attitude - its all wrong.

When you think of all the refugees risking and losing their lives trying to get to a place of safety, its them I feel compassion for. Give some of them citizenship!

Budsbegginingspringinsight · 19/02/2019 23:12

Fed up

She's been raised as terrorist, she even says her baby will get good NHS care...if nothing else!!! IE nothing else on offer here.

Her dad has been forfront player in a flag burning rallies.

He took her at 13... these things don't spring out of nothing.... oh come on love.. let's have a change from match of the Day and Go too an extremist western hate rally and burn western flags...

ReflectentMonatomism · 19/02/2019 23:12

personally think she’s a nobody - she comes across as quite dumb

Sartre said that the appeal of anti-semitism is that even a nobody can be a member of an elite. You only have to look at how pathetic and inadequate the members of racist organisations are to see this is more generally true. Isis are racist, separatist bigots. Of course they attract losers. The nazis were mostly some word I cannot remember beginning klein that means “the littl3 people” after all.

Katterinaballerina · 19/02/2019 23:12

I’m saying that those N. Irish citizens who were engaged in terrorism against British interests were not stripped of British citizenship on the grounds that they had could apply for a passport from the Republic of Ireland.

Saylav · 19/02/2019 23:13

I 100% would have given her a chance if she had shown remorse. In fact I advocate for people who have actually (not like her) been forced into repressive societies. For her? Zero sympathy.

Katterinaballerina · 19/02/2019 23:14

It seems she needed to send paperwork in when she hit 18 to formalise her status.

ReflectentMonatomism · 19/02/2019 23:14

Her dad has been forfront player in a flag burning rallies.

Her friend’s dad.

KingHenrysCodpiece · 19/02/2019 23:14

Mad and Budsbegginingspringinsight I think you're referring to the father of the other girl, not Shamima.

ReflectentMonatomism · 19/02/2019 23:15

It seems she needed to send paperwork in when she hit 18 to formalise her status.

If that is the case, that is hilarious.

Saylav · 19/02/2019 23:15

Katterina. I was talking about Irish people. Irish. Irish. Not NI. God, when will people realise that NI belongs to the UK and Ireland doesn't. Lord above.

DataBreachCentral · 19/02/2019 23:16

@Budsbegginingspringinsight

Mad yes,he took her age 13 to flag burning rally organised by now banned terrorist organisation

I'm not doubting you but please can you link to that.

I know that Amira Abase's father was photographed flag burning at a protest but didn't realise Shamima's father was also involved.

scaryteacher · 19/02/2019 23:17

How many of you, when your kids were 15, were concerned about them being radicalised and watching beheadings, rapes, torture etc on YouTube or wherever? I certainly wasn't worried about mine....and you have to go looking for this stuff.

She knew what she was doing. At any point going through the airports, she could have stopped and asked for help....she didn't.

BishopBrennansArse · 19/02/2019 23:19

My concern is our government unilaterally breaking international law.

That's going down a slippery path regardless of why.

They've already been reprimanded by the un for their treatment of disabled people.

humptydoo · 19/02/2019 23:20

Her son would have a right to UK citizenship as his mother still had UK citizenship at the time of his birth

Is that what the legal expert said? Because I thought you had to be a British citizen by descent to be able to pass it on to a child born outside the UK.

GlitterStick · 19/02/2019 23:20

Her dad has been forfront player in a flag burning rallies.

Her friend’s dad

Even if it was her friend's dad, she's still grown up knowing extreme views.
It's still not right.

The government is not unilaterally breaking international law Bishop; she is not being left stateless, and other caregivers count r up especially are refusing to have their jihadists back as well. Germany has, refused I think, and the NL.

TheTurtleDidItAndRanAway · 19/02/2019 23:23

Did she suddenly realise that 2 supposedly dead children were enough, did she not realise this newly pregnant with the 3rd - like - shit I need to get home now to save this baby?

How easy do you think it is to leave ISIS? I mean, really.

"Look Bob, I'm 17 now and I'm pregnant for the second time..and you know things aren't working. I'd like to go, that's cool right? "

teaandgingercake · 19/02/2019 23:24

My daughter thinks its a ploy. They’ve stripped her of her citizenship to appease the people but it’s a foregone conclusion she’ll have it overturned on appeal.

humptydoo · 19/02/2019 23:25

Oh ignore me, I'm talking bollocks Blush Time for bed!

scaryteacher · 19/02/2019 23:25

That should have said, other liberal Western countries, like Germany and the NL, are refusing to have their jihadists back.

PreseaCombatir · 19/02/2019 23:25

How easy do you think it is to leave ISIS?
Not wanting to leave probably doesn’t help.
