What have I done??😱

To cut a long story short.
In a fit of childish temper I have thrown out load of my OH clothes.
My OH works away in the Middle East. He goes for 3 months and comes home for 3 weeks. When he comes home he brings his ' good' clothing to launder.
He then takes a different set of ' good ' clothing back with him, leaving the ones he brought home behind.
Early this morning I began to do the ironing and my iron packed up. I tried the fuse, nothing.
Now anyone else may have claimed down, applied a bit of logic and bought a new iron. This is where the childish temper took a grip of my logic and common sense.
I threw the iron AND my OH clothes in the bin. Then the bin men came while I was still stropping to myself.
Now I'm panicking and pissed off at myself. These clothes were expensive, think Fred Perry, Lacoste and Levi etc.
So what do I do?? He's back in 2 weeks! Being as there isn't a poll option I will throw it out there and go with whatever gets the most votes. So........

A. Pay penance by the way of spending upwards of a grand to replace the items?
B. Say nothing and hope he doesn't notice?
C. Own up but blame the washing machine for ruining everything?
D. Own up and accept that he's not going to be pleased?
E. Leave a note and leave home?

Over to you wise women.

By the way I enjoy ironing, so I always tell him to leave his and I'll sort it.

No @Stayawayfromitsmouth. He's worked away in one form or another for the entire of our 37 year marriage. I can't imagine having it any other way.
I don't know what tipped me, nothing awful or stressful has happened. One thing is for sure though, I feel a heck of a lot worse now than I did before I started the ironing.

Moths is a genius answer, in fact they were middle east moths which he must have brought home with him and which have eaten lots of your stuff as well. You had to throw it all out.
Reason, hormones they are pesky things.

Auslander · 19/02/2019 16:16

@ComeMonday.
He has various sets of clothing.

His working clothes.
His lounging about scruffier clothes.
His good clothes that are worn on nights out, informal meetings, travelling etc.
If he was to take all of his clothes there and back he would probably need the entire of the plane's hold to himself.

His work stuff, scruffs and sportswear he leaves there, his good clothes he brings a hold all's worth home and rotates them with the others still here at home.

@CrockOf.
I like your thinking.
Hormones a possibility. Wonder if I could get away with that?

Unless this is an absolute one off I would prioritise making an appointment with your GP. This isn't normal behaviour and I would worry about underlying issues.

I had a phase of losing my temper a few months back (but didn't do anything destructive like this) when I was very run down. Had it continued I would have definitely sought help.

Nesssie · 19/02/2019 16:25

Honestly, it was just a fit of temper, happens to everyone. You were frustrated the iron was broken and overreacted. No need to reevaluate your marriage or go to counselling. Tell him the clothes were destroyed, you are going to replace them. Move on.

formerbabe · 19/02/2019 16:26

How about you had an infestation of moths who ate holes in the clothes. Chuck some of your stuff out to make it more believable. Buy new stuff for both of you.

lizzzyyliveson · 19/02/2019 16:26

You could always Marie Kondo all your clothes and his. You will probably find a ton of stuff he has forgotten about and look like a virtuous wife.

downcasteyes · 19/02/2019 16:26

You threw away £1000 worth of clothes?!

You spoiled brat. There are people starving and cold for want of the basics. Not only that, but climate change means that replacing those clothes comes with an emissions cost, not just an economic one.

Your whole attitude needs reexamining.

pepperpot99 · 19/02/2019 16:27

When in doubt deny, deny and deny again. Grin.

Wasn't me guv.

NannyRed · 19/02/2019 16:28

ID tell him you ruined the clothes by washing them with a red napkin/paper towel if you think he may get turn nasty, otherwise be truthful.
You’re not a laundry service, you don’t have insurance and sometimes life gets overwhelming.

usernametaken · 19/02/2019 16:30

Replace the broken iron, blame the old iron for ruining his clothes....overheating, hotspots etc.

Elfinablender · 19/02/2019 16:30

F) tell him you signed up your household to an episode of 'shop well for less' and Steph McGovern pinched all his good clothes and swapped them for no-name brands and declared the change a very good saving - which seems to be the economically unsound premise of the programme, as far as I can tell.

SeeYouLaterUserData · 19/02/2019 16:31

Tell him to do his own laundry as you're not his servant and if he tries to pull that shit again those clothes will also disappear?

Bloodybridget · 19/02/2019 16:34

Once years ago, I got into a rage ironing a top of DP's that had a row of tiny buttons down the front; she never undid them when she took it off ... I ripped it open so all the buttons came off.

Then of course I sat down and sewed them all on again.

It was still cathartic.

I reckon A and D for you too.

pinkgloves · 19/02/2019 16:34

For fucks sake calm down. Op has said she doesn't mind doing it and enjoys ironing. Hmm

I actually really enjoy ironing too.

Op, I'd be really upset and angry if you threw my clothes out. What a ridiculous thing to do.

BrizzleMint · 19/02/2019 16:34

Have you had help for your anger management issues?

You need to tell him what you did and deal with it. Only on MN would people be supporting you, if it was a man who did that to a woman then there would be uproar about how he was abusive.

ShatnersWig · 19/02/2019 16:36

Over to you wise women

Some of us are men.

You should replace the items. If a man threw out his wife's clothes in some fit of pique everyone would be insisting they were replaced. No difference here.

NunoGoncalves · 19/02/2019 16:37

Simple. Tell him you gave them to charity. If he complains it makes him look horrible! Grin

ketchupormayo · 19/02/2019 16:38

C- blame it on something else

WorraLiberty · 19/02/2019 16:38

The worst part about this is that you think it's 'hilarious' Hmm

If you were a bloke, a lot of posters would give you a well deserved flaming for being abusive.

Of course you should pay for goodness sake.

Pinkyyy · 19/02/2019 16:40

Are the people who are suggesting that the OP needs anger management trying to make out they they've never thrown a hissy fit? Everyone has done at some stage and most of those people will have done things they regret. It's some clothes it's not the end of the world.

WorraLiberty · 19/02/2019 16:43

I've never had a hissy fit that's led me to believe I have the right to ruin or dispose of £1000 of someone else's property, no.

Have you, Pinkyyy?

babysharkah · 19/02/2019 16:43

What are you, his holiday laundry service?

You need to fix it though.

HappyLife21 · 19/02/2019 16:46

I haven’t, not like that.
