Why am I getting calls on my mobile from South Sudan and how can I block them, please?

For the past week I've been receiving calls on my mobile from South Sudan. They ring a couple of times and then hang up. Does anyone have any insight? Is there any way of blocking all calls from a particular country? I'd be grateful for any help. Thank you.

I've no idea but years ago I kept getting phone calls from Sudan in the middle of the night. I turned my phone off at night for a few weeks and they stopped. No messages and they always hung up/stopped ringing after a few rounds s.

You can get apps to block specific numbers. I used to use one called Truecaller

Although the free version is very, very naggy-spammy.

In the past week I've had calls from Lithuania, Poland, Switzerland and Sierra Leone! The scammers are out in force at the moment.

Yrs my problem was it was a different number each time. Couldn't find a way to block all calls from one country.

Yes I think it’s a scam. They’re hoping you’ll call back. I had a couple of missed calls from random countries (Kazakhstan & Tanzania iirc) and googled it. Luckily I didn’t get any more. You could contact your mobile provider about blocking.

Me too. I'm blocking all individual numbers but they're different each time!

Been getting a fair few from Newport on my mobile in the past day or so . Blocked them all but they are a pain .
One had the gall to leave a message saying John Cleese wants to talk to you !! I think not . Blocked.

I've been getting them too and started a thread asking if it's possible to block area calls. I was woken up at 6.30 am yesterday.

Sadly I don't know how to link to my thread where I got great advice re blocking and not blocking certain numbers.
