Which is the nicest Premier Inn in the Aylesbury/Didcot area

I'm taking my younger son away for a night in June, we're going on a mother-son bonding nerdy steam railway trip and I know there's a few around that area plus the museum at Didcot I think. Smile

So a nice modern Premier Inn with decent attached restaurant is my hope for a good evening and breakfast. Anyone stayed at a good one around that area?

Stayed at Milton park. Not the most exciting location but was clean, quiet and the brewers fayre breakfast was reasonable

That was the south Didcot one

Thanks I'll add it to my shortlist. Exciting isn't necessary but I've experienced older ones in need of refurb and I'd rather have a nice modern one. Decent breakfast is v. High on DS's list. He wants to put his own toast on the machine and watch it go round Confused.

The Milton Park one is horrifically expensive for a Premier Inn, in the week at least. Does it have to be a PI?

The Didcot one is fine inside - garage location not great, but it's convenient for Didcot and the adjacent restaurant is also OK. There's also a brand new Marriot Courtyard over the road from the service area and another chain pub next door.

There's also the one at Abingdon, which is a nicer location and a few minutes walk from Abingdon town centre. Brewer's Fayre pub I think next door, which is actually a lot nicer than I expected for a pub chain, but there's loads of nice restaurants in Abingdon town too.

I can't remember if there was one of those or not!

I've stayed at both PIs many times, but not stayed at the Marriot yet.

Therefore don't know about the toasting facilities at the Marriot but I can confirm that both PIs have conveyor belt toasters.

Significant difference in breakfast facilities is that Didcot is a buffet, which is fine, but Abingon cook to order, which means that it can take a while, which you obviously need to account for if you are in a rush. Quality not significantly better. Both hotels also have a McDonalds next door.

Aren't the Milton park and Didcot premier Inn the same one? Either way it wasn't that expensive on a weekend. Double checked and it's a beefeater not brewers fayre at that one

Yes, sorry for confusion.

I like PI, the room standard is generally high, I'm sure of what I'm getting, no surprises. The breakfast is usually good.

Marvellous Grin. My 6yr old will be content.
