I have just woken the dcs by screaming. I actually thought there was a monster in my hoover

I must be going mad. Just had a quick tidy up before bed. OH already sleeping as he has an early start tomorrow. DDs both asleep. I decided to have a quick hoover so got the handheld dyson out. It started to make a squealing noise it was so loud that I jumped and screamed so loudly that the dds came running down the stairs. My heart was beating so fast. I scared the dds to death. Turns out it was a bit of paper stuck in the pipe. What an idiot. I genuinely thought it was a monster

I hate the noise when something gets stuck in the hoover but I wouldn't be hoovering when everyone is asleep.

You should hear the sound it makes when it gets hold of a ball of knitting wool. I honestly thought I'd sucked up a live creature but no, it had found a loose end and rapidly ingested it. After I unravelled it from the brushes I measured how much it had sucked up. 9.5 metres in about 2 seconds.
