Decent coffee alternatives

BernardoTeashop · 18/02/2019 21:35

The coffee machine at work is terrible and don’t want to be buying from a coffee chain every morning. I’ve tried a couple of different sachets (cappuccino, mocha etc) but they just don’t taste that great. Any recommendations for a decent coffee hit in the morning with only access to boiing water, no milk?

Sorry! I didn’t mean to just post link and run. That stuff is fairly decent. I drink it black. Could you stock up on long life milk things if your preference is to add milk?

BernardoTeashop · 18/02/2019 21:40

I’ve seen that but not tried it. Thanks for the recommendation. Maybe I should try to get used to black coffee instead.

The filter coffee at Pret is good. Do you have one on your way to work? Get yourself a reusable cup then it’s only 50p per coffee. Not bad and yeah it does taste better than the powder I linked above. I treat myself when I feel like splashing out WinkGrin

BernardoTeashop · 18/02/2019 21:48

50p? Bargain! Although I’m currently boycotting Pret due to their allergy labelling.

Pret are going to label all the food in each shop now, printing labels in each shop when they make it.

Which they should have done in the first place imo.

Buy a thermal cup and take your own!

IncyWincyGrownUp · 18/02/2019 23:03

I drink the Azera stuff at work. It’s the best of the instants that I’ve found. I use a stainless steel travel mug and it stays hot for an age.

SpaceCadet4000 · 19/02/2019 02:04

DH uses one of these for work:
www.amazon.co.uk/Bodum-Travel-Press-Coffee-Maker/dp/B0042RU4X0/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=plunger+coffee+cup&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1550541742&sr=8-4

He drinks 2 coffees a day so takes ground coffee in and empties it out/rinses.

YourFly · 19/02/2019 02:37

Can you take a jar and leave it somewhere?

Then add cold milk from a flask?

I use Millicano at work that I take in.

timeisnotaline · 19/02/2019 02:58

The Boden travel press, or , get a great thermos and make decent coffee st home to take?

timeisnotaline · 19/02/2019 02:58

Bodum! Christ it just tried to correct it to bodily this time

They are not very green but I like the individual filters from Rombout’s and Sainsbury’s etc. Like plastic cups you put over a cup and the water drips through to make an individual cup of coffee. About £2.50 for ten.

Whatififall · 19/02/2019 03:21

Taylor’s of Harrogate coffee bags.

Amazing. £2.79 for 10. They do a smooth Italian roast and a stronger java one.

BernardoTeashop · 19/02/2019 07:11

Thanks everyone. The coffee bags sound great and I love the look of the bodum press

Barnardo I'm boycotting pret for the same reason!!

Mide7 · 19/02/2019 08:32

An oomph cup. It’s basically a french press and a travel cup all in one.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 19/02/2019 08:35

user google v60 drip filters. They’re a DIY version of those and younger to choose your own coffee.

nikkylou · 19/02/2019 08:39

I second Azera.
I also have some cinnamon which if you like it can make a bad coffee taste some what decent.
Get decent sachets, not just own brand, but it depends what you don't like about them.
Get a cafetiere if you're brave enough. I wish i was, to have that all out on my desk. They already know I'm coffee snob and I have my own in my drawer...
Do you like flavoured coffee? Buy a bottle of monin (the same as Costas) or similar.

VanillaSauce · 19/02/2019 10:04

Make a flask at home.

CutesyUserName · 19/02/2019 10:44

Nescafe Azera or, my favourite, Kenco Millicano are both good instants.

Thank you IncyWincy I shall Flowers
