This is our current setup which is completely unsustainable. But I don't know what to do instead. We have phones, tablets, watches, bike lights. Loads.
How do you do it?

Where is this? Kitchen I assume? Quick google for "charging boxes" and you could do something like the photo. A hole in the back for all wires to go through then the wires are hidden in the boxes?

I have some cable tidy stuff wound around my cables so they look neater.

in the kitchen or the living room or at work. 2 phones, 1 tablet.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 18/02/2019 16:10

We're about to put in a new kitchen and I've asked for 2 of these to be installed under the worktop, above a shelf to create a tidy place to charging Stuff

We have the same problem. It always looks awful. This thing helped: INTEY Tower Power Strip Socket Extension Lead with USB 3 M/9.8ft 4 USB Ports 8 Way Outlets Surge Protector with Overload Protection … www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0786HZY8K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-GTACb30M8R5V?tag=mumsnetforum-21 and then we shove the phones etc in a basket whilst they're charging. For things with generic USB charging cables, we got some shorter versions so there's less electric spaghetti everywhere.

flitwit99 · 18/02/2019 16:14

I've seen loads of boxes to tidy things away online and they all look lovely but I don't know a single person in real life who uses one.

Did the picture not post?

Megan2018 · 18/02/2019 16:27

We have a dock by each bed and charge phones at night. Plus 1 dock in the sitting room.
We only have tablets and phones to charge though.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 18/02/2019 16:29

I thought about getting one of those nice boxes with dividers, but @Wavingwhiledrowning 's suggestion of a basket sounds easier, especially as we have 3 watches to charge - all with different chargers. You really only need something to stop the devices falling on the floor

KittyMarrion · 18/02/2019 16:30

We have USB points in all our downstairs sockets. It's so much better.

TurquoiseWeekend · 18/02/2019 16:34

I don't have a specific spot. I'll just plug it in whichever room I'm in when the battery is about to die.

ItsAllGone19 · 18/02/2019 16:34

I have a wireless charger for my phone that basically looks like a phone stand.

It's great because I don't have to faff with cables and as soon as you put it down it charges

www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Original-Enabled-Wireless-Charger-Black/dp/B079FXDG2P/ref=sr_1_1?s=telephone&keywords=samsung+wireless+charger&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1550507531&sr=1-1&refinements=p_89%3ASamsung

Everyone else in our home charges on a bookshelf that my husband customised like a TV cabinet so the charger cables come in through one hole and the tablets/phones can charge on the shelf out of the way.

ReflectentMonatomism · 18/02/2019 16:39

We have aboout 20 (ie, about 40 USB sockets) of these spread around the house. Every time we touch the wiring we replace the sockets with ones that incorporate chargers.

I presume the "I don't understand switch-modes and think you have to unplug chargers because reasons" crowd don't like them. But I do understand how SMPSes work, so I don't worry about them.

We have separate chargers for laptops, as it's unlikely USB-C PD is going to be incorporated into faceplates. But otherwise, when new devices arrive I just throw the chargers away.

Everything charges in a messy pile on my bedroom floor. We have Too Many Things!

happymummy12345 · 18/02/2019 16:45

We each have a phone charger by our side of the bed. And there is also one in the kitchen as well as an iPad charger.

Mirime · 18/02/2019 17:39

We have a few sickets changed to ones like in the post from ReflectentMonatomism, very useful in the kitchen! Phones are charged upstairs overnight, tablets, kindles etc wherever the nearest socket at the time is. I don't think we ever have an untidy pile of devices, but with PC, games consoles etc. we do have a lot of untidy cables about the place.

WeeTinkerMonkey · 18/02/2019 17:41

Extension cable from wall to use of sofa, charger that came with phone plugged in and plugged into phone on arm of sofa.

DaedricLordSlayer · 18/02/2019 17:56

we don't have anyone place, I normally charge my phone overnight in my bedroom, same for the rest of the family, if they need topping up during the day, they get plagued in where ever. we also have a few power packs that sometimes get used.

I found this wireless charger for you though its built into your work tops. looks very discreet.

BillyAndTheSillies · 18/02/2019 18:57

All of our downstairs sockets are USB sockets. As well as in the master bedroom so stuff is just plugged in as and where. We keep cables permanently plugged in and have spares for travelling.

missnevermind · 18/02/2019 19:28

We use one of these

PrismGuile · 18/02/2019 20:13

We have one in either side of the bed and then all of our kitchen sockets have built is USB ports
