Applied for job I really really want

If the deadline was 5pm last Thursday when do you think I'd get an invite to interview (if I get one)?

The job is perfect for me and I need it too. Sad

Can you call them and ask them to confirm that they received your application? I would (from HR point of view) expect to get back to applications by the middle of this week latest.

chumbabum · 18/02/2019 14:40

They confirmed receipt when i sent it in early last week. So I'm not worried about that.

I guess I'm just itching to know.

If I'm not in with a shot for this job I've got to start applying for 'any old job' as I'm facing redundancy and can't afford to be out of work.

It depends a bit on who would be doing the shortlisting for the post. I would give it to the end of this week. It's a bit off that they haven't acknowledged receipt of your application, although not entirely unusual.

Depends on how many applications they get. Not wishing to worry you but I work in recruitment and our last advert had around 240 applications. It takes the shortlisted a long time to read all those applications and then make a decision.
Good luck, I hope you get it.

Cross posted!

In that case, I would give it at least a week for them to shortlist and send out invitations to interview, at which point they'll probably send out the rejections too.

I recently applied for a job and received notification that I had been shortlisted for an interview one week after the closing date for applications. Best of luck!

Thanks all. I know it's early days really.

It is early days, but waiting can be agonising. That said my interview was on a Friday afternoon and I received a phone call early on the Monday morning offering me the job which I thought was incredibly fast - hadn't been expecting any news so soon. When the phone rang I was sure it would be a flat out rejection due to the short time frame!

@DeadCertain
Congratulations!
I think the post interview wait is the worst - you're so much more invested by that point.

Thank you and yes, it is awful! I wasn't close enough to my phone and missed the call so had to ring straight back as well which felt awkward.
