Invisalign - What do we think?

I've just had a consultation about getting my teeth sorted out. I went in with the expectation that I would need metal train tracks (I thought they were really bad) but the orthodontist who is very experienced seems to think I'm the ideal candidate for Invisalign instead.

I'm very tempted! Apart from the fact they are far less noticeable I asked about effectiveness (which he says is dependent on the orthodontist) visits to the dentist (which are every eight weeks- seems reasonable). It just seems...well a bit easy? HmmAnyone have any experiences to help me with my decision? Or any questions I can ask him to prove further?

Has a one has a single arch? If so what was the cost?

FrodoIsWet · 05/04/2019 13:00

OP here, I have no idea about a single arch. As far as I was aware generally speaking they look at how both bite together and often although one arch doesn't 'look' like it needs much work it sometimes needs the work to match up to the new position...if that makes sense. Might be worth going for a consultation

If anyone is still interested I went for my clincheck yesterday where I was shown my treatment plans and the projected outcome! I can't believe how much my teeth are going to change!! So exciting. I get the aligners in three weeks! Shock

Oh! I've just reread my posts from when I started this thread and apparently my ortho charges £2100 for a single arch Blush sorry!

How exciting OP! Hope it all goes well with the fitting.

Once you get used to them, it's an absolute breeze. I'm on aligner 15/25 now and my teeth have changed SO much.

AGirlHasNoShame · 27/05/2019 19:15

OP here (with name change!) not sure if anyone is interested but I've had my Invisalign in for five weeks now and I'm really getting used to them. So glad I just went for it and barely anyone has even noticed

PencereTencere · 27/05/2019 19:35

Well done OP! Glad you're pleased so far. I'm on brace 22 now and am potentially done as of tomorrow. It's flown by and I'm sure yours will too.

I couldn't get on with them. I have a very slight lisp and even after a couple of weeks, I just wasn't understandable wearing them (I'm an Optometrist so need to be understood by patients.)

They were also an utter nightmare having to remove them before drinking/eating etc.

I found a fixed brace much easier.

Oh my! Nearly done! Bet you can't wait to get those attachments off Grin
