If you have balayage hair

How do you upkeep?
Going to sound really thick but how often do you go to the salon and do you ask for balayage every time or just the first time and then after that it's something else to upkeep?

I can go months without having to have mine done, I just keep the colour fresh with a purple shampoo. When I do go to get it done I just ask them to freshen up my balayage and tell them what kind of tone I want my blonde to be.

I used to be really good at up keeping mine. I’d have regular trims and have it redone to stop the blonde going brassy. Though in the end I was ending up more and more blonde each time, it was more of an all over colour at that point. I had it done in the summer post baby though and it just wasn’t the same so I’m trying to grow/cut it out now. Stuck in complete orange stage at the moment!

Months and months!
As PP said, purple shampoo and the odd DIY toner makes it fresh again

My dd had it done and the advantage it has over highlights is the no need to keep having it redone. My dd just let it grew out. It was still looking good months later.

Yeah, it doesn't need to be done frequently and you can definitely go in between for cuts without the colour. I have colour done anyway because I'm very grey on top, but wouldn't necessarily need to 😁

pregnantforever · 18/02/2019 13:59

@LBOCS2 that was going to be my next point. I'm only young but I've got lots of stubborn greys poking through up top, so I'm going to need the roots doing too aren't I

I just re dyed the roots myself! The roots were just a darker brown red than my natural hair so it didnt have to be perfect to blend in with my natural hair.. so I just did it at home for the first couple of inches of hair.

I imagine if you went to the hairdresser thays what they'd do... just touch up the roots...

After a long period of time you might want to lighten the ends again and so do the whole thing.. but I think then ends stay as they are for quite some time... mine have been going a year now and it still looks pretty much like it did at the start... slightly less of it because I have had a trim but I dont cut my hair that often.

I haven't had my hair redone in nearly a year. Like a PP said, purple shampoo once every couple of weeks are so.
Although I desperately need it trimmed!
