High calorie food ideas

Bramblecrest · 17/02/2019 15:31

DS is naturally really skinny. He's not bothered by food and a very slow eater.

Just had a hideous D&V bug and has lost loads of weight. A&E dr commented on how skinny he was.

Any ideas of high calorie foods that are easy to eat that I can give him to help him put the weight back on?

Add ground nuts to everything! If you grind them fine enough they go to dust, can be added to all sorts of saucy things, stews, casseroles, savoury crumbles can be mixed with breadcrumbs in any dish requiring them.
Cheese and butter are really high cal, easy to add to pasta and potatoes.
Quiches made with cream and add extra egg yokes.
Toasties can be made with lots of cheese, ham and buttered inside and out.

Add condiments or ‘extras’ whenever you can. Top his food with dried fruit, chopped nuts or seeds, honey, bacon bits, cheeses, mayonnaise, and salad dressings. Prepare his food with oil or butter to add calories. Try adding hummus, full fat cream cheese or avocado to sandwiches or wraps.
Porridge made with full fat milk, stir in a spoon of Nutella, a spoon of peanut butter and a mashed banana.
Scotch eggs
Tesco bread and butter puddings!
Ice cream
Hummus and falafel in a wrap
Cubes of cheese
Bagels with full fat cream cheese and smoked salmon
Rice pudding
Millionaires shortbread
Avoid him drinking beverages 30 minutes before meals, or minimise the amount of liquids drank with meals.
