Books for girls with autism (or for the parents)

Does anyone have any good recommendations for books about girls with autism. DD is 6 and we are struggling to find something aimed at that age group.

Ideally would like something to read to her/for her to read herself. But would also like a book for DH and I to read too that isn't too clinical/heavy terminology.

Or perhaps any good blogs/chat rooms? Just some material to help get our heads round things!

Thank you

There is a great lady called Carly Jones who has autistic daughters, and is autistic herself, try contacting her as she will know exactly how to help. She's on twitter @carlyjonesMBE

Also look at Jessica Kingsley Publishers, some brilliant books there, they are all related to autism and related subjects, you will definitely get something there for your daughter as well as you two.

Thank you! Really appreciated. Found myself in a bit of a rabbit hole on Amazon with nothing really jumping out at me as looking remotely helpful!

Will try both of these routes.

www.mindsandhearts.net is an australian website run by two Doctors, the female Dr Michelle Garnett has written some really good books, and their website is a mine of information if you click on the 'resources' tab, it's like falling down a far better focused rabbit hole!

Ahhh that's perfect for the zone I'm in right now. Sat on laptop researching. Only when you're not entirely confident with what you're researching you end up getting led astray!

Thank you, this is a total wealth of advice. You've really helped me out this evening @bluesky
