I've just been listening to 'Will You' by Hazel O'Connor and I'd forgotten what a fantastic song it is. 'Thunder In The Mountains' by her contemporary, Toyah Wilcox, is also great.

Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon;

At Seventeen by Janis Ian.

I'll probably think of more classics later.

I agree that Kate Bush is a genuinely gifted musician. She has a phenomenal amount of talent and creativity, and I don't think it's possible to categorise her either, because what she creates is unique to her.

SinkGirl · 16/02/2019 12:41

Crucify by Tori Amos is probably my favourite - I could listen to her all day everyday

spiderlight · 16/02/2019 12:45

Thea Gilmore - 'Old Soul'

Send in the Clowns sung by Judi Dench. So much feeling and meaning in that version.
Mulder and Scully - Catatonia.
Love Jar of Hearts but quite a lot because there's a gorgeous Vampire Diaries fan vid made to it on YouTube Blush
Fields of Gold - Eva Cassidy

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 16/02/2019 13:35

Just looking at the last few songs I've been listening to:

Dolly Parton "9 to 5"
Kirsty Maccoll "in these shoes"
Kate Wolf "across the great divide"
Alison krauss's Raising Sand album but in particular "sister Rosetta goes before us"
KD Lang "rose garden" and "save me" - I actually think she has one of the most beautiful voices of any singer I've ever heard. I could listen to her all day.

howdoyoukeepawaveuponthesand · 16/02/2019 14:20

Some more modern ones:

Rihanna - Russian Roulette, Desperado

Ariana - no tears left to cry

Dua Lipa - New Rules, IDGAF

Taylor Swift - Gorgeous, Delicate

JenniferJareau · 16/02/2019 14:24

Outside by Mariah Carey. If you've ever felt ostracised, this is the song for you.

The Door To Your Heart by Taylor Dayne. Such an underrated singer.

Only For A While by Anita Baker. Reminds me bad times do pass.

One Moment In Time by Whitney Houston. The live version is one of the reasons she is one of the greatest vocalists I have ever heard.
