I think I'd go with Granny Weatherwax from the Terry Pratchett books, she'd stand for no nonsense.

Gandalf would sort things out.

4point2fleet · 16/02/2019 09:28

Jeeves.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 16/02/2019 09:30

I thought Gandalf too.

Mr Bean (well at least there is some reality to that choice).

lottielady · 16/02/2019 10:04

Flora Poste.

Professor McGonagall.

Mewe · 16/02/2019 10:38

Yea Gandalf!

BrizzleMint · 16/02/2019 11:40

Gandalf is looking popular - why? (I haven't seen LOTR)

Atticus Finch

EducatingArti · 16/02/2019 11:42

Dumbledore

Taytotots · 16/02/2019 11:46

Flora Poste - well if she can sort 'Cold Comfort Farm' out the Brexit fiasco would be a doddle.

EleanorLavish · 16/02/2019 13:14

Julian from the Famous Five of course!
Such a sensible chap.

Piewacket · 16/02/2019 16:08

BrizzleMint Gandalf is compassionate, wise, thoughtful, sees the whole/longer picture as well as cares about the individuals involved, he's also brave, selfless, but will tell other characters in no uncertain words to jolly well pull their socks up when they're being unreasonable.

(I'm not overkeen on the beard, but if he asks me out, ...well, I'll probably go.) Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 16/02/2019 16:29

Harriet vane. Totally got her head screwed on.

cwg1 · 16/02/2019 16:32

Miss Hilda Annersley.

cardibach · 16/02/2019 16:35

Attic us Finch here too, Only.

cardibach · 16/02/2019 16:36

Why did autocorrect do that? Atticus

CharDeeMacDennis · 16/02/2019 16:37

Granny Weatherwax or Vimes, but they wouldn't want the job, I don't think.

Lord Vetinari would want it, and he knows his onions.

IndigoSpritz · 16/02/2019 16:39

Betty Turpin, late of Coronation Street. Kind, sensible and took no shit from anyone.

BrizzleMint · 16/02/2019 17:18

Granny Weatherwax or Vimes, but they wouldn't want the job, I don't think.

They do say that a person who wants the job shouldn't do it.

Gandalf sounds like just the ticket. Maybe a coalition of Gandalf and Granny Weatherwax?

Switched - thank you!
I accept the post

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 16/02/2019 18:37

Should be "Witchend"
I hate autocorrect!

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 16/02/2019 18:45

Susan (Death’s granddaughter) if we’re going Terry Pritchett.
