50 minute drive with a newborn

I've read babies shouldn't be in a car seat for more than 30 mins at a time but we have a 50 minute car drive to do this week and baby is 3 weeks old. Will only be at the place for about an hour then driving back.

Would this be ok? Surely others must have to drive for linger periods with their babies and all is ok?

My second child was born 45 minute drive from home, which kind of decided things!

It'll be fine. Guidelines I suspect are to try and prevent tiny babies from being in car seats for a very long time including being transported from car to travel system in seat without time out of it.

I would stop and take baby out the seat half way. Guidelines are there for a reason

Newborn DD had over an hour's drive home from the hospital she was born at. I sat in the back with her. She was fine

I think it will be fine. I stressed about this and wish I hadn't.. I wouldn't make a habit of it but as a one off I think it will be fine.

Make sure the car seat is as reclined as possible. Have someone sat next to the baby. Positional asphyxia is a terrible thing.

We used to drive to my in laws here in the UK with my newborns. A drive of between 14 and 20 hours. Nothing bad happened to them

I had a ten hour journey at Xmas with a three week old baby and she was fine! We had a half hour break in the middle and I kept checking her but she was fine and slept most of it.
