Someone on your Facebook had secretly won the lottery? I have a FB friend I used to work with many years ago and she seems to live the most fabulous life. And before anyone calls me out for jealousy or whatever, she was a seriously lovely person so all I have is intrigue and no ill feelings

Yes! I have a friend who suddenly went from being entirely normal to living a life of luxury but with no apparent inheritance or promotion. We are quite close so she would mention a death or some minor good fortune which makes me think it’s something bigger. Good luck to her.

When I was growing up we had neighbours like this. Overnight they got a brand new car, put a huge double extension on the back of their house and started going on forrin holidays. We all suspected a lottery win but frustratingly there was never a whiff of an explanation.

I suspect MIL did. She seems to spend money like it's going out of fashion and she's only on an old age pension.
