Just wondered if anyone has and can recommend a cheaper version of The Ring Doorbell Please?
Or is it worth forking out for the real thing?

Definitely interested.

You probably get what you pay for. I don’t have one but friends do and they recommend it

The ring doorbell is definitely worth it. I like being able to talk to delivery drivers even when I'm not home. Also, it gives you a record of who has been to your door so in the event of an issue, you have video proof.
We used to have delivery drivers lie and say they knocked and no one was home( I assume as we live in a village they couldn't be bothered with the extra drive). We sent video evidence to the company and surprise surprise our deliveries are now delivered in a timely manner. So it's a great doorbell but also good for security.

Thanks Felicia, looks like I need to go for the real thing. Which one do you have, if you don't mind me asking?

We have this one, have had it a while. I know there are newer ones which are more expensive but this one does what we need it to do so really happy with it.

The ring doorbell (we got the first edition) is very good, but it’s well worth investing in a lead to keep it plugged into the mains as ours loses charge very quickly. We don’t have anywhere to plug one in so we’re looking at the solar panel for it.

As476 if you don't have it on live view but set it to alert when there is movement the battery lasts much longer. Only charge ours once every 2 weeks.

We have this one which is slightly cheaper than the old style Ring cameras. I'd recommend as the app is easy to use, battery life is good & it comes with everything you need. However its VERY sensitive so even when the sun shines on it I get a movement notification which means I'm checking it several times a day.

The Ring doorbell is definitely worth it.

My mum has one and you would be surprised how many times she has looked through the footage and seen people trying the doors and people's cars!
