I used to have SPD when i was pregnant but youngest is nearly 3. My left him started hurting last night and feeling like it needed to “click”. It’s not stopped hurting all day, it feels abit out of alignment and just sore! Iv tried stretching and yoga, but it just spasms and hurts 😩😩

I don't have the answer but I get this from time to time. Also had SPD!

Livedandlearned · 14/02/2019 22:56

It could be sciatica

meanfattrendygirl · 14/02/2019 22:57

Could be pirifomis.

Go see an osteopath.

Etino · 14/02/2019 23:08

@meanfattrendygirl
Tell me more about piriformis- do you have it, what worked? Do your HCPs believe in it? I’m convinced I have it- stiffness/ pain that is relieved by movement. HCPs (GP osteopath, physio) either have diagnosed it or have never heard of it.
@TheFunkyFox mine is spd related I think but definitely relieved by movement. Could yours be an injury or referred pain?

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 14/02/2019 23:09

Lots of possibilities. Mine is moderate osteoarthritis and a suspected cam-type FIA

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 14/02/2019 23:10

*FAI Femoroacetabular impingement

Ledehe · 14/02/2019 23:11

I also had SPD and 2 weeks ago when hoovering i seem to have overstretched my hip and it was awful. It was spasming, i couldn't sit or stand comfortably for days

TheFunkyFox · 15/02/2019 02:52

Thanks all! I can tell I’m walking with that leg turned outwards abit. It hurts 😩😩

I had bursitis once. That is rubbish. My sympathies with any hip hurty things Flowers

delilahbucket · 15/02/2019 07:45

Hypermobility syndrome is a big possibility. If it feels like it's stuck in spasm try squeezing your bum together really tightly and for as long as you can and relaxing and do this several times. Then stretch those gluts out. It should release the spasm.

I recommend a McTimoney Chiropractor - they start with your pelvis - if that isn't straight then nothing else will be- before moving onto gently pushing and shoving everything else into place. I see mine once or twice a year - my pelvis rotates on a regular basis and I can now feel when it does - my trousers just don't sit right and my head doesn't fit centrally on the car seat headrest! The one I see did say she wished all women could get just one appointment after they had given birth as the process of carrying a baby and giving birth - even for the most simple and straightforward birth - puts our poor old pelvis through such a lot.

TheFunkyFox · 15/02/2019 19:40

Do chiropractors hurt? I’m so scared about going to one! I hate the noise 😩🙈 but I can’t open my legs very wide and it keeps spasming lol

Adversecamber22 · 15/02/2019 21:25

Personally I find osteopaths and physio better than chiropractors. Have had all three types of treatment.

Blobby10 · 16/02/2019 08:22

The McTimoney practitioners used gentle manipulation so I can't say it has ever hurt as such. IN the early days, my muscles used to hurt a lot for a couple of days after as they got used to my assorted joints being where they should be rather than where they had settled! Nothing a couple of ibuprofen didn't resolve. Grin. I understand that 'traditional' chiro's consider McTimoney a Mickey Mouse theory but can only say that it has always worked for me

LilQuim · 16/02/2019 08:31

For spasms, best relief is tennis ball (or lacrosse if you can be arsed to get one) and lie into it & roll out the tight spots. It's great for piriformis, and iliopsoas. That & pigeon stretch for as long as you can bear are only things apart from drugs that give me any relief.

TheFunkyFox · 21/02/2019 09:38

It’s gone again!! Had a few days of relief and it’s gone again 😩 it clicked this morning and felt better then I was walking down the stairs and it’s done it again. It hurts 😩😩😩
