What's in the package? ( LH )

I've just had a package put through the letterbox by the postie. It's addressed to my OH. Attached to it is a label that says...

This item was identified as possibly containing dangerous goods, and as such was opened and checked by the National Returns Centre Team.
The item does not contain any dangerous goods, is labelled correctly and therefore safe to transport BY AIR.
Royal Mail.

Well, it's good to know that my OH hasn't ordered a bullet for my Valentine I suppose 😂

But what is it? It's light in weight and feels about as big as a cigarette pack and its obviously from overseas. I'm not going to open it as we never open each others mail, besides if it is for me then it will spoil his surprise.

So you lot, what on earth could it be that's generated such a response from the post office? Ideas please. 😃

Pistachio nuts?

cjt110 · 14/02/2019 14:52

My husband once got held up at customs in Bulgaria. They scanned his case and saw an odd cylindrical shape. It was also metal. With semi circle ends Tore his case apart. It was his metal designer glasses case.

I reckon it's a phone battery.

I got searched and had all my bags emptied at Stanstead once because I had marzipan. Now I always hand my Christmas cake over for separate inspection.
I reckon it's an early Easter gift. A marzipan chicken.

Marmite27 · 14/02/2019 15:01

Perfume?

Auslander · 14/02/2019 15:01

Marzipan chicken 😂
I've just given it a gentle shake, it doesn't rattle either.
Hmmm 😕

When I seen the (LH) my first thought was Love Honey and thought we were all going to be guessing what rude item he'd bought you Grin

Ahem.

SpanielEars070 · 14/02/2019 15:09

Yes some dodgy sex toy site off the internet.

I'd approach with care OP Grin

Auslander · 14/02/2019 15:14

@Ineedanewjobplease. That's what I don't know, the package has been 're-wrapped into a plain grey royal mail bag, by royal mail.
There is absolutely no indication of who or where it's from, hence the guessing game.

Auslander · 14/02/2019 15:15

I will stand well back @Spaniel 😂
Only around 2 more hours to wait.

So......?
@Auslander?

DorothyZbornak · 14/02/2019 22:51

Well? Don't keep us in suspense!

Auslander · 15/02/2019 00:13

It turned out to be a bloody cigarette lighter!!
It was a gift that my OH had ordered for a colleague who was leaving his company. A smoker obviously.
Now a complaint has been opened with the post office. That should be interesting.
The item was ordered on 12 Jan, it was dispatched on 13 Jan, intercepted by the P.O on 15 Jan, according to the accompanying document and arrived here today a month later 14 Feb.
When it didn't arrive, another was ordered that arrived promptly with no interception. Which means two items were needlessly paid for due to their incompetence.

Sorry it wasn't anything more exciting 😳

Being mail order, they come under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, which give you 14 days to cancel for no reason from the day they arrive. You'll probably have to pay return postage though, that's up to the shop.

Designerenvy · 15/02/2019 00:24

I need a new ( second-hand ) car.
My own one has just packed in after 13 years.
I want a small one ( Not too small, as have 3 dcs).
We have a bigger car (Toyota carolla) if We all need to go out together, so a smaller one will do me.
Unfortunately we need 2 cars, cos public transport here is pretty awful and we both work.
So, anyone have any advice on opel corsa or seat ibiza?
All good and bad experiences welcome.
Or can anyone recommend another car around the same size / price range?
TIA

Designerenvy · 15/02/2019 00:24

Sorry, was trying to start new thread....oops BlushBlush

Auslander · 15/02/2019 00:31

@Spoonbender. It was ordered from Amazon.

@Designerenvy. Don't order one via Royal Mail, it will probably arrive with your pension book.

Auslander · 15/02/2019 00:33
