Gerd/ acid reflux, feeling nauseous

God I hate this, can’t sleep because of the nausea it gives me

Anyone have any tips for managing gerd? I’m hoping it’s not a long term thing but I’ve had it two nights in a row and I haven’t had to deal with this in years Sad
Although I did make the stupid mistake to eat dinner later than usual tonight (10ish usually eat by 8)

I’m sitting up and trying to breathe slowly

Milk helps me but some others can't tolerate dairy. I'm about to have a total vagotomy to stop all acid production.

I feel for you. It’s bloody awful!

I can’t take anything other than water as it inevitably ends up back up my throat. Sips of water and lying on my left side helps. Read about that trick years ago when I was at my wits end one night. Sitting up unless completely upright makes it worse for me but I’m quite overweight so that’s obviously something to do with it.

I take lanzoprazole now and it’s reduced the episodes considerably and the times I wake up having almost choked on the acid that’s come back up in my sleep.

Try taking sips of water and walking around room or house for 20mins then into bed and lie on left side.

Hope you get some comfort and sleep.

Have a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a small glass of water. It disperses the gas that causes the acid to come back up.
Omeprazole works for me. You can get it over the counter but it’s a bit more expensive than a prescription. So I get it from the doctors. Hope you feel better soon.
