Double barrel surnames...

...which one is more important officially? Or are they both the same.

I'm thinking of double -barrelling mine and dh's surnames so we as a family (dhaaga, dcs and me) have a shared surname. But personally would prefer to use my maiden name for work and day-to-day use. But can I do that if I have 2 surnames?

You can do what you like.
You can keep your current name at work and use your married name at home or you can double barrel.

We double-barrelled, changed all documentation, but didn't change our names at work until we changed jobs. We've never changed our signatures. It's never been any kind of issue.

Yes tis fine. I am an academic and loads and loads of women colleagues DB but keep using their own name at work.

So for all the double-barrelled who use 1 name at work, where else do you use that single name? At the GP? At kids school? For the zillion points cards? V5? Or would it not matter?
