Diagnose me?

I have a suspicion what this could be and wondering if anyone else recognises these symptoms:

Extremely bloated tummy and in the last few days pain and then loose bowels. Don't have much of an appetite.

Very tired and needing to lie down during the day but this has been ongoing for a while and put it down to having an underactive thyroid.

Ferritin levels are low not taking anything for this currently.

Bit of weight gain but again put this down to the thyroid.

My tummy is not happy and I am miserable because of it.

Any ideas? TIA

IBS or coealiac disease

ItRubsTheLotionOnItsSkin · 13/02/2019 12:45

Don't ask for a medical diagnosis from MN Hmm

Is there a reason you're not going to your GP?

HighlandWorrier · 13/02/2019 12:47

Can't get an appointment till 21st. Just wanted some opinions as Google comes up with Coeliac which I suspect.

It could be a range of conditions including potentially (but hopefully not) serious disease including ovarian cancer. Look up TwitterQueen1 thread on general health but do get it checked out ASAP.

HighlandWorrier · 13/02/2019 12:47

Thanks EllaBella do you have experience with these conditions?

I have bad IBS. With cealiac you will need a blood test and you have to eat plenty of gluten for a few weeks beforehand. Buscopan has been a life saver for my IBS. What is your diet like?

GinaJabowski · 13/02/2019 12:49

Is there a chance you could be pregnant?

ItRubsTheLotionOnItsSkin · 13/02/2019 12:50

Ah yes, Dr Google and Mumsnet, the most reliable sources of medical advice Grin

If it's only been a few days perhaps the GP doesn't see as it as urgent hence the appointment next week, but if you feel you need to be seen earlier do they offer cancellations if you ring in the morning?

HighlandWorrier · 13/02/2019 12:54

Thanks again EllaBella - fairly good balanced diet meat and veg in general don't have a lot of bread or pasta as it is.

No can't be pregnant DH has had the snip!

Yes could try for an emergency appointment but not sure if it's an emergency per se guess I'll have to wait till 21st.

Low stomach acid is linked to auto immune diseases like thyroid disease so it's possible you have that, especially as you have low ferritin. Check B12 levels too. bestpractice.bmj.com/topics/en-gb/871

Sounds like IBS , I have had an attack of it this week

Stress is a big factor
