Quick help! Work denying part time request

Put in a request to return to work part-time have a meeting at work in a few hours and i get the gist that they're going to say no.

what are my rights and am I entitled to be paid for the holiday I have accrued during my year off?

I am definitely not an expert but you don't have a right to work part time if it doesn't work for the business and they can make you take the holiday instead of paying you in lieu of it.

Surely it's their prerogative to say no if you've been working full time? What's the reason for you wanted to go part time?

I don't think they legally have to agree with it if it's not in the best interests of the business. Is there a vacant PT role you can apply for?

There are many other employees with a part time position, there is availability without it causing a detrimental effect on the company.
Circumstances have very sadly changed at home and childcare costs would mean it would cost me a minimum of 200 a month more than I earn.

No cover was brought in whilst I've been on maternity leave. They just spread the work load out. Surely returning part time is cost effective to them?

You only have the right to ask for part time work, unfortunately.
