Mattress protector

How often do you wash your mattress protectors? I wash my bedding weekly or fortnightly but only do the mattress protector every month. Part of me thinks I should do it every week but it's another wash and dry cycle which I know is bad

Every few bed changes in my house. I aim to change my bedding once a week but it's often fortnightly (only me in it though most of the time as DP works away all week). It's nearer weekly in the summer when I can get a load of king size bedding dry on the line in a few hours.
