You've inherited 15 acres - what would you do with it?

Just that really.

15 acres of what? Woodland? Pasture? Industrial land?

reallybadidea · 13/02/2019 09:26

Greenbelt? Brownfield?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/02/2019 09:26

Depends what kind of land and where.

Forests or farming? Mountains or seaside?

Figgygal · 13/02/2019 09:27

Yes depends what kind of land

Honestly I'd sell it on as wouldn't have a clue what to do with any of it

DonPablo · 13/02/2019 09:28

Build a homestead and live off the land! Well that's my dream, but like all the sensible pps have asked, what kind of land?

Parthenope · 13/02/2019 09:28

What a nice predicament -- I've always wanted land. I think a lot would depend on where it is, though, what type of land, what's currently on it?

I'd quite like some cows, or I'd manage it as a wild life sanctuary.

Parthenope · 13/02/2019 09:28

I mean, assuming it was agricultural land.

Bluelonerose · 13/02/2019 09:28

Build a castle. I've always wanted my own tower Grin

Innernutshell · 13/02/2019 09:33

Small part woodland and the rest pasture.

Start your own business with a camping/glamping site (with relevant planning permissions of course)

redhat · 13/02/2019 09:40

There may well be very little you can actually do wth it. We have a few acres of woodland. Nothing at all we can do with it other than look at it and walk around it.

Wolfiefan · 13/02/2019 09:42

I would fence it off and enjoy dog walks there. Maybe see if I could put in a summer house and enjoy it like a garden. BBQs?
Somewhere for the kids to play too.
A dream come true for me!

Innernutshell · 13/02/2019 09:44

redhat Perhaps I should ask MN to edit the thread title to 'what would you do on it? Grin

I'd try and plant a meadow, to attract as many bees as possible and put hives in and let the local bee keepers loose.

I'd also fence it in and let my dog go mental. A private walking spot for him? He'd love it.

I would also arrange putting it in trust so it couldn't be sold and built on in the future.

Wolfiefan · 13/02/2019 09:54

I love the meadow flowers idea.

PolarBearDisguisedAsAPenguin · 13/02/2019 10:04

How far away from where you live is it and are you considering building on it?

Panicatthebistro · 13/02/2019 10:09

I'd be keeping an eye that no CF put horses on it or tried to land-grab it!

Tatiannatomasina · 13/02/2019 10:10

Turn it into a dog activity centre and call it Yappy Valley

Innernutshell · 13/02/2019 10:19

It's about 2 hrs away and minimal [possibly impossible] chance of any building on it. polar

It'd be quite nice nice to turn up to find a pony or two panic but not anything else!

Could you divide it into plots and rent for allotments? Could be a nice little earner and would be a fab use of the land.

iknowimcoming · 13/02/2019 10:22

What did the person you inherited it from 'do' with it? Is it attached to their old home?

TheFaerieQueene · 13/02/2019 10:24

Speak to local conservation charities. They might be able to suggest uses to increase local populations of rare plants/animals/insects etc.

Disfordarkchocolate · 13/02/2019 10:25

I'd add to the trees and wildflowers and then use for occasional wild camping trips. Perhaps see if I could place a shed/hut there so make this easier. It would be so lovely.

whatthefoxsaid · 13/02/2019 10:25

I'd sell it for peanuts to a lovely MN'er who has a dream of opening a farm for people to come and enjoy Wink
