About to get my first one for three months.

Please give me your tips 🙏

Do I give a laminated card of polite requests? Shoes off, no food in the bedroom etc ... ??

I think it's best to include a short version of your house rules in your profile, but if not, I would email the student(s) so they have forewarning about things like shoes off etc. Don't forget to make it clear if friends from their language school are allowed to visit and at what time(s), if you have time limits for bathroom use (hour-long showers are a common complaint from hosts), where they can smoke (if smokers), what food/drink they can help themselves to...

Saying all this, I always told students staying with me "let's just be considerate of each other and use common sense" and it honestly worked well. The main thing was "please tell me if you finish all of a particular food/drink item so I can buy more when it's needed". You can ask them if they need more detail from you when they arrive. Also, have you asked them about allergies or dietary requirements?

I had several from Homestay and all were lovely, good luck!
