Does anyone remember this documentary (exotic animals)

And not the Louis Theroux one!

It was on TV a few years ago (at a complete guess, maybe 4 years ago, but I could be making that up). It was about exotic animals being kept as pets, I think, and something happened whereby these animals escaped and were loose in a town in America.

Ideally, I would love to be able to watch this again somehow, although i’m not convinced it will be available anywhere, even if anyone manages to come up with the name! But it would at least put my mind at rest to know what it was!

I'm pretty sure I know the incident you mean (it was the Muskingum County Animal Farm/Zanesville Zoo Massacre) and I think I saw that documentary as well.

Apparently there was one on Channel 4 called "America's Animal Hoarder: Horror at the Zoo" which was probably the one we both saw.

Borderline, thank you, that is definitely the incident and documentary I am thinking of! Shame that it isn’t available on 4 on demand, that would have been asking too much I think!
