12 year old son cutting himself

Hi,

I am totally out if my depth...i have found cut marks all on my sons arms. First he said he had fallen over but it was obvious he hadn't. I sat and talked to him, asked him what is wrong or if he is being bullied, he said he gets angry sometimes. I believe him when he said this is the first time he has done it but how do i make sure he doesn't do it again??

Worth telling school so they can keep an eye on him there. I would keep talking / listening to him, ask him about his day, his friends and hopefully you will get the worries before he hurts himself.

You can also get cahms referral through GP though wait can be very long or private counselling. School may have counselling. Assuming he's not ASD but if he is there will be specialist advice from ASD charities and special needs board.
