Posted in Health but no takers Sad

I know most of you aren't dermatologists... I'm supposed to be having this mole removed within 1 month (GPs advice) but there aren't any appointments available just yet, I have to call back tomorrow.
In the meantime I'm obviously Googling everything to do with Melanoma as you do.
Has anyone had a mole like this that either was or wasn't melanoma? I'd love to hear your stories please

Not sure if this is any help, but I have several moles just like that. I've had them checked a couple of times (by a GP and by a skin consultant) and they were deemed as being normal (no need to remove them). I found it kind of surprising as they have most of the risk factors of melanoma (size, irregularity, colour differentiation, and at the time of examining a change in size). I ended up pushing to get one of them removed (it was darker than the others and had increased in size quite a bit), but that was benign too. Hope all is well with your mole too Smile

Oh, and step away from the Google search... Been there, done that, got the t-shirt of terror.

last summer my dd pointed out a 'new' mole on my back - went to docs, was then sent to hospital, i was quite certain i was dying! anyway, was in consulting room for all of 45 seconds - it was a wart! - i covered it over with a plaster and after a week it died Grin I hope you will end up feeling like a big twit just like i did Smile

thats not to say i would ignore another 'new' mole though

If they were at all worried, they'd have you in right away to remove it. Please don't worry. Do you have any private facilities near you where you could go (if you can afford it)? Even if it's just a basic check it will reassure you that you can wait a while. If the GP thought it was suspect they would refer you on the 2 week rule, so I really don't think you need to worry.

I had a lesion on my arm (not a mole) and saw the GP. I had about a 6 week wait to see a dermatologist on the NHS, and separately I went to a mole clinic as I have a lot of moles too (cost £150). All the moles were ok, they said the lesion needed looking at but wasn't anything serious to worry about and it could wait for the NHS to do its thing. I eventually saw someone, got some cream and just have a scar now. It may have been cancerous, they weren't sure, but it has gone.

I am no expert whatsoever but that doesn’t look like melanoma. Melanoma is usually irregular shaped, irregular colouring.
But have it looked at.
