I cocked it up didn't I?

I'm job hunting and was called back for a second interview last week . It was going really really well. The interviewer asked if I had any last questions ( I'd already asked a couple) and instead of keeping my gob shut , out came "So what are my chances ?"

Ffs , I am never normally this bloody pushy ! I don't know what came over me Blush.

After an awkward back-pedal by me saying I was joking, the interviewer asked what I was doing the weekend and I said taking Dear Daughter out ( literally those words ).

I should hear today - I don't want to answer my phone.

Please give me some hope!

It's been a while, but if someone said that during a job interview, I would take it as a sign they were keen on the role.

Kez200 · 11/02/2019 10:18

That's fine! You are honest!

Bombardier25966 · 11/02/2019 10:19

Don't worry, they'll have finished the interview by that point. And I'm sure they've had much worse said to them!

Good luck!

Oddcat · 11/02/2019 10:22

Thanks all , I cringe every time I think about it.

Good luck. At least it showed that you are interested in the job.

Wakk · 11/02/2019 10:24

Did you actually say dear daughter?Shock

MorticiaAddamsIsMyStyleGuru · 11/02/2019 10:25

For me it shows you are keen and human!! A second interview is tough! Good luck 🍀

Oddcat · 11/02/2019 10:25

I must have sounded like I was pissed and trying to get him into bed. Grin

lovewatchingrainfall · 11/02/2019 10:41

I am sorry but this did make me laugh.
Good luck and hope that you get the job

explodingkitten · 11/02/2019 10:51

I've asked what my chances were and in the end I got the job. They want someone who wants to work there, don't forget that.

Newsername · 11/02/2019 10:53

Dear daughter 😂🤣🤣

Oddcat · 11/02/2019 10:55

I think it's funny,. It shows you have a sense of humor, are keen and you must have felt comfortable in the interview to say that. Good luck!

IncrediblySadToo · 11/02/2019 10:58

😖😖😖

Ya muppet 🤣

If I still thought you were the best candidate for the job, I’d readvertise the position

No, not really, but I would make bloody sure I could get rid quickly if I need to 🤣

‘So, what are my chances?’
🤣😁🤣😁

Wakk · 11/02/2019 11:01

I've said worse in interviews! Good luck.

Oddcat · 11/02/2019 11:05

If I do , by some miracle , get offered the job , do I really want to work for a company that employs muppets? !

OP posts:
Newsername · 11/02/2019 11:07

Aah, I really hope you get the job OP! Apart from the dear daughter (which is honestly just cringe, but you know that), I don’t think you did anything wrong. Even dear daughter isn’t exactly a reason to not give a job to someone. I have my fingers crossed for you!

Ifailed · 11/02/2019 11:25

saying dear daughter is the mumsnet equivalent to a masonic hand-shake. Either they are in on the code, or just think it's whimsical.

DGRossetti · 11/02/2019 12:14

"When do I start ?" ?

Oddcat · 12/02/2019 17:57

I got the job !!!!!!
