10/11 week sleep regression?

DD has thankfully been a great sleeper. Started to do some longer stretches (5-6 hours) but in the last week or so, is back to newborn pattern! Does 3 hours, 2 hours, 1.5-2. Anyone else had this? She’s been better about going down for daytime naps and sleeping longer and closer to bedtime, perhaps we should try to cut that down? Love our cuddles but also loved those 5 hours... Wonder weeks says we’ve completed the second leap so thought this would be a bit more sorted now..Confused

At 10/11 weeks it's amazing you've had any longer stretches ! The 'regression' you describe is just a normal (and to be honest really excellent) sleeping pattern for a tiny baby ! One of the best things to do when it comes to baby sleep is ditch the apps stop looking for answers and reasons and just accept and go with it ! I say this as a mum of three all of whom have ranged in sleep abilities , currently have a 18 month old who is yet to consistently sleep thru the night 😱😱 it's hard but totally normal and will improve. Baby sleep peaks and troughs for at least the first two years.

Gosh, really? I read on Bounty and MN that babies are sleeping 6-7 hours at a stretch at this point Shock I do love our late night cuddles so I suppose I’m secretly glad she’s not sleeping through yet Blush Although a full night would be lovely before 18 months! How do you manage? How old are your DCs? Did you get a break at all to catch up on your sleep?

Yes. Normal. Although of course you'll get a bunch coming on saying how theirs slept all the way through from birth Grin

Ignore the websites when it comes to sleep. It's a source of massive stress and feelings of failure for many parents when they think they must be doing something "wrong" because the websites tell them their baby should be doing xyz amount of sleep.

I agree with newcupcake. Im a mum of 4 and not one of my dc slept through consistently from that age. Yes some babies do sleep for like the websites say but the majority dont. I learnt to cat nap, if we got back from shopping and they were all asleep i used to recline the carseat and join them in napping for 20 mins, really does give you a boost till bedtime!

I'm not going to lie it's nearly killed me at times but I've just got used to it. My other two are 5&6 and sleep fine which helps. But number 3 has been a challenge ! She slept in three hour chunks until she was over a year. No rhyme or reason to it I did exactly the same for her as I did the others. It's just down to individual babies. Lots of cups of tea and chocolate biscuits and a lovely husband has got me through ! Just take it a day at a time and know that one day it will get better.
