What’s the chances of my phone dying after a quick bath?

Dropped my phone in the bath last week. Put it in a box of rice and it was ok. Then it proper died so i ordered a new one (refurbished not brand new).
Yesterday original phone suddenly sprang back to life and appears fine. Speakers a bit crackly but been like that since a previous splashing.

So if i send new phone back is this phone going to promptly die again?

Have you tested the old phone fully works? eg phones, apps & camera?
If so I can't imagine it will stop working after a few days.
You can always keep your new phone for a few more days (unused) depending on the returns policy, just to be sure.

It all seems as it was before, fine except for the speaker but that was crackly from the first incident.

Can i justify a new phone cos of a crackly speaker/
