Is there anything from another part of the UK that you wish that your area had?

It doesn't have to be food. It can be anything. What do you wish existed in your area?

I'm not that big a fan of roast dinners, I enjoy them just a few times of year but I wish that my area had the roast shops(I don't know what they're officially called) that they have in Yorkshire. I'd love to be able to get a turkey or roast pork roll with apple sauce or even better a bag of hot crackling pieces.

I'd also rather like to have a good fudge shop here.

And more second hand and new book shops. When I go to certain parts of England there are so many compared with her. Edinburgh and Wigtown aside. I love charity shops but it isn't quite the same.

A decent park with paths where you could go for a run/walk/picnic. I live in a semi rural village/small town where there is absolutely nowhere nice to go for a walk and half the roads don’t even have pavements.

Jsmith99 · 10/02/2019 20:54

The sea.

I live in Leicestershire, which is as far from the coast as it’s possible to get in these islands.

derxa · 10/02/2019 20:57

A beach. Broadstairs Stone Bay please.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 10/02/2019 21:03

Hills.

We are surrounded by sea and the weather is pretty good most of the time , barring the odd storm . We do have great local produce ,..so that's great ,but our hospital system isnt that good, so we have to go to the mainland if we need anything major .. No NHS dentists we can register with. Oh and we only have one very short stretch (less than half a mile ) of dual carriageway on the whole island .

I'd love a decent takeaway that delivers (or is near enough to drive to ) Thai food that wsnt right over the orther side of the island , . Street food, (I dream of BBQ / Caribbean food vans like I have seen operate in London) A market like Borough Market and Next Day delivery would be fab ..

Cheaper car ferry prices would also be fab ..

Having said that, I love it here and can cope with all of those things ( except for the dentists which is a bit of a pain..)

Central Scotland.

An outdoor swimming pool, nearest is in Stonehaven around 100 miles away.

Really good chip shops like they have in the North of England. Chip shops are normally pretty rubbish here.

More diverse food choices, being outside the big cities there is very little choice.

An independent cinema, nearest one is around 1/2 an hour away and has amazing festivals so can't grumble too much but would love one on my doorstep.

I live abroad and want to race back to Yorkshire, eat a late breakfast in a Farm shop cafe with the newspapers, hike up a windy hill and then teleport myself to a Northumberland beach and eat fish and chips with cups of tea for supper!!

Younger people

PowerslidePanda · 10/02/2019 21:07

A local yarn shop

Deliveroo and/or Uber Eats

And, inspired by a PP, Trago Mills!

Gbarmy · 10/02/2019 21:07

I live on the Yorkshire coast, it pretty much ticks all the boxes. The icing on the cake would be a decent cinema and theatre, but it's a small price to pay for everything else we have on our doorstep

FraggleRocking · 10/02/2019 21:09

Waterfalls
Proper gravy & chips

AppleKatie · 10/02/2019 21:11

Hills
Waterfalls
Beach
Cliff top walks and beautiful secluded bays would be perfect.

PortiaCastis · 10/02/2019 21:14

I'm 30mins from a trago mills but I would like a John Lewis and an Ikea, we've quite a few places to eat and drink here but not many to shop and I love shopping. Would also like the twat who wants to put up hideous buildings on our harbourside to go forth and multiply

onlyhereforthefood · 10/02/2019 21:15

chip spice

easily pleased.

AppleKatie · 10/02/2019 21:17

Chip spice 🤢

No you can keep that one!

PlumCakeChica · 10/02/2019 21:27

Hot springs and outdoor thermal spas like they have in Austria.
A beach and nearby hills for dog walking.

ineedaknittedhat · 10/02/2019 21:28

There's very little going on culturally where I am. I'd love to be able to learn folk music and be part of a little group. It's very dull and everyone is the same.

MotherWol · 10/02/2019 21:28

I’m in London, and I’ve got pretty much everything I could ask for, but if someone could send me some bridies, butteries, tablet and a haggis supper, I’d be much obliged.

OneStepMoreFun · 10/02/2019 21:29

I'd like Northumberland, especially the Northumbrian coast and Alnwick moved near SW London.

BartonHollow · 10/02/2019 21:29

Proper theatre

To lower the tone, a Wagamama Blush

I love Wagamama and the nearest ones are miles away

Decent bus and train services (Semi Rural)

nicslackey · 10/02/2019 21:32

Aldi, Farmfoods and Wilkos. Got the beach and grammar schools though!

DaedricLordSlayer · 10/02/2019 21:32

Gbarmy Yes thinking about it it's living near the Yorkshire coast I miss.

May be I should start a Yorkshire expats thread......

GunpowderGelatine · 10/02/2019 21:40

Just back from a trip to Harrogate and I would probably give up my DH in exchange for them building a Betty's where I live. Although not sure anyone would take him Grin

thejollytrolleydolly · 10/02/2019 21:41

I would like berés pork shop from Sheffield, pease pudding from Newcastle, the seaside and the weather from spain 😁

zsazsajuju · 10/02/2019 21:42

Better weather. And a beach.
