Is there anything from another part of the UK that you wish that your area had?

It doesn't have to be food. It can be anything. What do you wish existed in your area?

I'm not that big a fan of roast dinners, I enjoy them just a few times of year but I wish that my area had the roast shops(I don't know what they're officially called) that they have in Yorkshire. I'd love to be able to get a turkey or roast pork roll with apple sauce or even better a bag of hot crackling pieces.

I'd also rather like to have a good fudge shop here.

And more second hand and new book shops. When I go to certain parts of England there are so many compared with her. Edinburgh and Wigtown aside. I love charity shops but it isn't quite the same.

A gorgeous beach to walk the dogs on!

Live in rural Gloucestershire and it's a good 2 hour drive to the coast from here.

Booths, sandy beach, roast shop (had never heard of them until this thread; they sound great), cinema, farm shop.

Muddledupme · 10/02/2019 19:57

A local beach and decent thick snow. I'm easily pleased meSmile

Grammar schools!

FindPrimeLorca · 10/02/2019 20:00

Mild ale in pubs.
Baltic houses.

Lllot5 · 10/02/2019 20:00

Could seriously do with decent public transport.

DaedricLordSlayer · 10/02/2019 20:02

nice sandy beach, the smell of sea air.

E20mom · 10/02/2019 20:02

I live in lLondon and I'd love a genuine beach.

SoSaidTheHorse · 10/02/2019 20:03

I agree with those who said better weather.

Surfing

Xmasbaby11 · 10/02/2019 20:04

Beaches! I feel like we've got everything else covered - Sheffield.

Millie2013 · 10/02/2019 20:07

A coastline and some ski slopes within spitting distance 😊

zozozoo · 10/02/2019 20:10

Better weather, IKEA, John Lewis, proper cinema like picture house, cheap flights, Bluewater, better night life, a trampoline park, museums on a variety of subjects, better Indian takeaways/restaurants...

Scrowy · 10/02/2019 20:11

A takeaway that delivered. Wouldn't even care what kind. I can get one delivered to the pub 8 miles away but by the time you have driven there to pick it up you might as well just go for a pub meal.

Instead I have most of the things everyone else is listing here. But the grass isn't always greener.

I'll have ri add street food and also Caribbean cuisine. I wish that it was a thing here

I live in NI so a government would be nice. we haven't had one in two years

TokyoSushi · 10/02/2019 20:34

John Lewis a coastline, and somewhere that gets lots of snow in the winter please.

Parthenope · 10/02/2019 20:36

Somewhere Grin Indeed, it’s not much to ask!

BibbityBobbityEars · 10/02/2019 20:45

Beaches and waterfalls

CallMeWoman · 10/02/2019 20:47

Warmer weather!

Honeyroar · 10/02/2019 20:48

Less people. We live in beautiful, rugged countryside, but it's commutable to three major cities, so they're building and building and it's totally lost its character,

AlpacaPicnic · 10/02/2019 20:49

Munchy boxes. They sound amazing!

An airport. Or a train line that doesn't wash away ...

HopeOverFear · 10/02/2019 20:49

"Longer daylight in winter, and warmer weather! And more English people, so I have some to celebrate with when England win a football match. Up here, they all support whoever England is playing against.
Yorkshire pork pies and ham, real Cornish pasties. Union Jack flags on buildings. English pubs. English village greens. Morris dancers. Red buses.
Gosh, that was a nostalgia fest! I haven’t lived in England for over 40 years, but I do miss it. Both kids live and work in Scotland though, so I’m here for the duration
"

You could always go back? I realise this is a light hearted discussion but that is a bit excessive and a good highlight as to the attitude that can create a divide in the first place. We are a separate nation with a separate identity something that should be celebrated not rebranded the little England a lot seem to expect from us. I am happy to accept your Cornish pasties and weather would be appreciated : D but more English people to celebrate England winning.....in Scotland, come on!

The seaside on my doorstep would be a dream.

EastMidsGPs · 10/02/2019 20:51

I'd like Holkham beach and sea transported here into the East Mids. I heard the other day that a village near here was chosen as The Festival Village in 1951 for the Festival of Britain celebrations because it is 'in the middle of the country' and on days when I am home sick for my beloved Norfolk, it bloody feels like it!
