Kids sharing a room, big age gap

My two children of the same sex share a bedroom as we only have a two bedroom house. Moving, extension, loft conversion are just not possible and was wondering about a possible partition? The room is 15 foot by 8 foot and the age gap between my children is six years.
At the moment they have bunk beds (they are nine and three now) but just thinking oldest may want her own space when she is older? Would you do a partition or leave as it is and just get them single beds with a desk underneath? I don’t know what to do!

Do you have one or two windows in the room?

Your older one will want her own space by the time she's 12. Can you divide room with one of those ikea cube things - the big one, think it's 4 cubes across by 4 high. Allocate lower 8 cubes to the youngest one for toys and what not. Upper 8 for the oldest for her stuff. Buy the containers that fit the cube spaces rather than leaving shelves open.

If possible allocate 'back' room to oldest so youngest never has to go in her space unless invited. Invest in headphones for oldest so that she can play music etc in her room after youngest has gone to bed (thinking ahead)

Have a rule that after x time (thinking ahead again) oldest cannot chat to friends on whatsapp etc.

Perhaps hook up a curtain that goes across to the wall from where the ikea cube ends like a door.

Your fortunes may change over the next few years.

What does your oldest think?
