I bid and won on an item, paid for it and postage immediately. The next day, the small parcel was posted through my letterbox, no postage on it or signature requested. I was at home when it happened in the evening, well after the postman had already been round.

I looked at the listing again and saw that the seller lives in the same town as me (London!)

Is it odd to think the seller just came round to my home to post the item through the letterbox and to keep the postage fee for themselves? Of course they would have my address for shipping but to actually come round feels a bit scary to me. AIBU to request the postage fee refunded? Would you message them to ask if they did come round?

What is it about them coming around to your address and leaving the item above knowing your address anyway that is scary?

The postage fee also presumably included packaging, and whilst it wasn't posted, it was delivered at the agreed cost.

Sorry that you are feeling uncomfortable Flowers

Can you hear noises in your attic now?

They had your address anyway so no security issue there. As for postage fee, that is post and packaging. They’ll have also spent either bus fare/tube/petrol delivering to you so no, it would be unreasonable to try to claim it back. Particularly from your OP it would appear that it was delivered quickly too.

I’m just surprised a seller would do this in case you raised a case of non-delivery as they wouldn’t have a tracking number or proof of postage reciept.

I don't see the problem. I have delivered a couple of eBay items myself. You received it far quicker than if it had been posted. It would be rude to request postage back.
