How to help friend who's mother is ill

My best friends mother is in hospital, possibly coming to the end of her life. I really want to help my friend in some practical way...I was thinking of making meals for her and her family, what is the best way to do this? Me make them and freeze them??

Is there anything else helpful I can do?

Make them and drop them off when they are home but don't linger. I wouldn't freeze them in case they want to eat them that day.

Yes that's a good point, I suppose I was thinking of making a big lasagne, chilli, shepherds pie etc...that they probably wouldn't get through in 1 day though.
