Quick Ancestry DNA Question

If I use the ancestry DNA test do I get any access to the Ancestry.co.uk site or do I still need to pay for that separately? Also, will this flag up any relatives through the site?
Thanks wise ones

I’ve just done mine.

When your results come in you’ll also get your matches. I had around 400 and some of those will be private and some will share a family tree.

However, to start building your own and have access to birth, death, marriage certificates etc you do have to pay (but they usually offer a discount if you’ve had a DNA test).

Thanks Ubbes
I'm not overly bothered about building my own, without going into too much detail I have a suspicion that something isn't right a few generations back and DNA would clear it up.
That said, if they offer discount I might have a nosey around. Suspect it becomes addictive though.

DS asked for an Ancestry DNA test for Christmas. When his results came through he signed up for £20 for 4 months. He found out yesterday he's a distant cousin of Kevin Spacey. We also found out through doing his family tree that he's related to a golfer called Bob Goalby who is quite well known in the USA - they are first cousins three times removed.

Yes it does, but I needed a new hobby! You can get a lot just from looking through the matches. I managed to find a whole side of my Dad’s family that we didn’t know existed (and live within 10 miles of us), that at some point ancestors emigrated to Virginia, and also have answered a few questions for my grandfather who was orphaned at three months as we think we’ve located his absent father’s line!

@AndNoneForGretchenWieners £20 for 4 months is ok, I'd take that I think.
I guess it doesn't matter if I reveal more.

I can't get a suspicion out of my head that my Grandfather wasn't my dads dad. It's a twofold thing, my nan was a very 'free spirit' shall we say but mostly because my Dad was exceptionally dark skinned. As a child he was ridiculed as a 'foreigner' because he was so dark. I never knew Grandad, he died before I was born, but the odd picture I did see he wasn't dark.

Everyone is dead now and I feel the need to look into this a bit more now it wont have any consequence.
