Kindle Fire for kids?

This has probably been done to death on here but the only threads I can find are old!

Can I have recommendations for children's tablets please? My DD is coming up 3 and we're going to buy her one for her birthday (time on it will be monitored!)

Looking at the kindle for kids which seems good. iPad minis are so expensive I didn't really want to spend more than about £100 ish.

What do you all rate?

We just got a regular Fire and locked it down so she can’t access anything other than her kids apps. It was only about £30 and got a cover off amazon.

The regular fire is cheaper , personally I don't think the kids one is worth the extra money. I think my dd was 5 though, before that she just had a leap pad. for the fire you can buy the kidproof cases separately which I recommend!

The iPad is much better and easier for kids to use but the lock down facilities on the Fire are good.

Parental controls are brilliant on the kindle fire, but agree the only difference between the regular one and the kids one is the case.

My kids have all had kindle fires, they're great. The parental controls are good and easy to set up too. Highly recommended.

You get two year guarantee with the kids one so if they damage it you can get it replaced . You also get a year subscription to kids kindle unlimited so they can download all the games etc they want .

MyDcAreMarvel · 09/02/2019 12:29

The difference plus case is the kids unlimited shows books and games but you can pay monthly for them.

Ah, the guarantee is good on the kindle hadn't spotted that thanks! So it'll last her until at least age 5 then
