Would you go to the doctor if you're this bloated? I've no other symptoms. Been like this for a long time.

Well your obviously worried about it, so yes go to the doctors to get it checked out - even if it's just to put your mind at rest

Sparklingbrook · 09/02/2019 09:54

Go to the GP.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2019 09:55

Yes. I would get checked out.

Yes. I don't want to be alarmist, but persistent bloating (and/or feeling of fullness) can be symptoms of serious illness.

MaudebeGonne · 09/02/2019 09:57

I say this with all kindness, but if you have been like that for a long time, could it just be that you carry a lot of fat on your abdomen?

What have you done to try and reduce it - for example have to excluded wind inducing foods? Tried peppermint or ginger teas? Done some yoga?

I would give myself a month to try and tackle it myself before going to the doctor. Have a read up on the low fodmap diet for advise on excluding foods that can cause wind. It is a short term plan, so you might find that helpful.

ElspethFlashman · 09/02/2019 09:57

Yep, needs a scan. All unusual bloating needs checking out.

Don't be put off either. Women are often put off with bloating. GPs are very eager to just say its hormonal or constipation. But bloating can be anything and you need to find out what.

Petals23 · 09/02/2019 10:13

Maudebegonne , I do drink peppermint tea every day and have a healthy diet. I'm slim otherwise, under 8.5 stone but maybe you're right and I'm just carrying a bit of extra weight there, like some people do around this area. Thanks everyone.

Go to GP please. It might be normal weight. However you absolutely cannot ignore this. I don't want to sound alarmist but when you get to GP don't leave without a follow up plan.

SweetAsSpice · 09/02/2019 10:16

Definitely yes. That doesn't look like extra tummy fat, it is rounded.

ChrisPrattsFace · 09/02/2019 10:19

I bloat like this regularly, constantly asked when my baby is due because I genuinely look 7/8 months along.
I have IBS, triggered by so so so many foods. I would advise a food diary in the run up to the appointment. I was referred to a nutritionist and she found common things being problems instantly!

WhatTheNightBrings · 09/02/2019 10:20

You've been posting about this for months. Either go to the doctor or await the small sounds of crying coming from your vagina.

FlibbertyGiblets · 09/02/2019 10:24

January's thread

you asked last year too

Genuine question: why keep asking randoms on the internet and not bother getting rl advice? I'm curious.

Sorry if you feel like I'm time wasting or attention seeker... I can guarantee I'm not. I'd a death in the family soon after last time I posted and put it on the long finger... I suppose also I felt I didn't want to be wasting doctor's time either. I've now also discussed it with my mum and I'm going to get it checked out next week.

I'm upset at some of the comments here and so won't post again.

Oh give over

Hope all is well when you see the doctor

BunnyColvin · 09/02/2019 11:34

Sorry to hear that Petals23
Good luck with the visit. I find if I'm worried about something, I find it really hard to take the step of seeing a doc in case something actually is wrong, but I'm sure it'll be fine. Don't put it off.

Petals23 · 11/03/2019 17:27

My doctor just rang this morning with this result, that I've inflamation of the omentum and now I've got an appointment with a gynae first thing on Wednesday. I'm a bit worried it's so quick. I never heard of the omentum before! Anyone with similar?

Glad you're getting medical help.

weekfour · 11/03/2019 17:45

I have a tendency to get like that. Was thoroughly miserable until I started 5:2 intermittent fasting. It's like my stomach gets a rest and is happy again. Back to bloat if I drink or eat crap though. I think it could be a bit stress related as well for me but since stress=biscuits for me I can't really prove that theory. Why not try 5:2 for a fortnight or so?

weekfour · 11/03/2019 17:47

Sorry, didn't see your update. Maybe not time for a fast!
Glad your getting some care. Also, me people are wankers. Flowers
