I had this.
I already had a c-section scar so they said they would use this; it would therefore all sit under the bikini line.
However, my tummy had SO much stretched skin that when I came round they had also cut upwards past my belly button, which was removed & a new one ‘created’ to stop me having folds of saggy skin. The scar is a sort of anchor shape as a result, though it is so thin & faded you can’t really tell. It was a shock though. I can’t cope with touch around my belly button area, it feels weird!
Recovery was more than c-section as you are more bruised & battered inside so took more like four weeks. I was lucky my DH was on holiday (teacher). Other than that I have a pretty neat tummy once more which is worth the effort, I was previously so traumatised by the damage to my tummy from two babies, and the discomfort it caused.
The only thing i’m a bit dubious about is that one bit seems to have no fat left under the skin and so it kind of goes in a bit just above my belly button, with a slightly odd appearance but I can live with that.
My last comment is that I thought my core strength would magically come back and it really didn’t so have had to work on that, I do struggle with back pain as I think I learnt bad habits of using back muscles when I had no core working. Pilates is the best way to start on this I think.
