Ronnie the Roomba arrives tomorrow

I've been off work ill for the last couple of days and have been entertaining myself with videos on YouTube. This culminated in me ordering a Roomba.

Have I made a ridiculously expensive, impulsive mistake or are they bloody amazing?

They are wonderful 😁

wireswireswires · 08/02/2019 18:43

They are great.

HiHoS · 08/02/2019 18:44

Well that makes me happy Grin

They are amazing. Good decision.

FrenchyQ · 08/02/2019 18:52

I love mine (hes called Bob)

HiHoS · 08/02/2019 18:59

I'm even more excited now.

Are there any negatives? Other than the small dust bucket

Pick any small things up from your floors. Also make sure there are no charger cables loose. Or they will be devoured

rookiemere · 08/02/2019 19:00

Sadly Eufy died ( I blame the dog) so we recently purchased Rodger the Roomba. He seems to tread a more random path than Eufy but does the job well and its so nice to be able to clean the floors without cleaning the floors Grin

wireswireswires · 08/02/2019 19:02

It doesn't like rugs with fancy frilly edges. Angry (all of our stupid rugs are fancy family heirlooms of dh's and it wraps them up and gets stuck or rips them off and REALLY upsets dh.

wireswireswires · 08/02/2019 19:03

It's quite noisy and annoying. He always wants to be where I am. I swear it follows me.

Ds, the dog and the cats are all terrified of it. But it think that's a good thing.

HiHoS · 08/02/2019 19:03

I don't have any rugs luckily.

Do I just carry him upstairs to carry on the job and leave him to it?

GreenJellyBeans · 08/02/2019 19:04

I love mine!! It makes me pick all the crap up off the floor every day before I can set him off, which whilst it feels like a negative it is probably really a good thing as it stops us living in a bomb site...

My only annoyance is it can't pick the cat biscuits up and instead just flicks them around - I've learnt to do them with a dustbin and brush before I set him loose.

NeverHadANickname · 08/02/2019 19:04

Not sure of the brand but ours is Robbie the robot! It's great, keeps on top of the dust and animal fluff. Anything long and thin like a cable (or pipe cleaners in our case) should be kept out of the way.

00100001 · 08/02/2019 19:06

Ours is called Rosie!

But ours is a cheap knock off called EVERTOP.
I picked up for £15 . It's noisy and doesn't dock, but I put it in when I leave in the morning and plug it back in overnight does the job. When that dies, I'm going to get a Eufy 30c (or whatever model is out then)

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/02/2019 19:25

I had a £80 vileda called Sebastian, he was amazing. Sadly the battery died and amazon had him back.

I would love another.

The cat hated it he had the knack of running where Sebastian was going and therefore thought it was chasing him.

wireswireswires · 08/02/2019 19:48

I carry him upstairs and he had a drop thing where he doesn't plunge down the stairs. It's worked so far.

I do think he gets pissy when I ask him to do upstairs too.

Mrs3ss · 08/02/2019 19:53

Do you still need to do a “proper” hoover as well? Or is this sufficient? I want one Grin

FrenchyQ · 08/02/2019 20:01

Bob is great.....hes programmed to hoover downstairs while I'm at work (he also mops). My big dog is absolutely terrified of him but my little dog is fascinated and follows him around.

HiHoS · 08/02/2019 20:37

This all sounds brilliant Grin FrenchyQ how does yours mop as well?

Ours was called Henry, but husband has recently renamed him DJ Roomba after watching too much Parks and Recs Grin

Ps we love him!

Fireinthegrate · 08/02/2019 21:14

I did read a thing about an ‘accident’ that the family dog or cat had and the roomba was set to go overnight, and merrily spread the ‘accident’ all around the house 😲 for the family to wake up to the following morning.

HiHoS · 08/02/2019 21:16

No pets thankfully but what a thing to wake up to

wireswireswires · 08/02/2019 21:16

R2-D2 did smear a hair ball all over the rug once. It also chewed up a dead mouse and spread it everywhere Envy but I can't blame it for either of those really.

wireswireswires · 08/02/2019 21:19

One of those vomit type hairballs that actually look and smell like a turd. Except they also have a lot of hair too to grind in to the fibres.

caffeinebuzz · 08/02/2019 21:21

Ours is called Ronnie!! And he's a wonderful addition to the household.
